Love how RFK is doing the exact opposite of what he promised in his nomination hearings. And by love I mean hate.

It’s the Republican way.

It’s like the 15% is the 85%, right @Anastasis?

Well based on my imperfect view as a layperson it looks like 85% of the effort is going towards the batshit crazy stuff and not the actually important reform objectives which I think we both agree with.  I don’t see evidence of good shit broadly happening. But let me ask you this: if eradicated diseases become endemic again, is it worth it?

You can still give your offspring HepB vaccine the second they exit the birth canal if that makes you feel better.

I'd say that nearly 100% of the (social) media attention is going to the bat shit stuff. And that is what generally gets regurgitated here. Click bait hyperbolic shit.

You skipped the questions, which are, again,

1) if eradicated diseases like measles become endemic is it worth it, and

2)what am I missing?

Well there is kind of a lot going on man.

A few items for consideration:

Most favored nation pricing model for single source Medicare drug costs.

Accelerated approval pathways for generics and biosimilars.

Rx price transparency

Safety disclosure in drug advertisements

 OTC acceleration

These are just a few items in flight under HHS, with particular focus on Rx-related policy, that I think you (and I) would generally support based on our prior exchanges on health care policy and financing. Or maybe not and you have just fallen into the social media rage bubble?

I agree with all those things, but that’s the “is it worth it” part.  We shouldn’t have to trade off basics of public health like vaccines or scientific consensus.

Cassidy could easily call for a non-binding resolution for RFK to resign or be removed. Instead Cassidy appears to attack one off policies. Weak.

If this was a crazy, far left, anti-vaxxer, Cassidy would be calling on the President to fire them or face impeachment.

You should work a few into your 15/85 bit. I am certainly not asking you to make trade offs you are not comfortable with, but post covid vaccine policy became a strange sacramental religion for some. We use to have fairly robust discussions on the topic here with some very reasonable diversity of perspective. Now sticking a hepatitis shot in every 12h old baby’s leg and a fourth booster in every 10y old’s arm is somehow dogma and it is heresy to the “scientific consensus” if someone suggests risk-based recommendations.

To be fair, they only care about babies prior to being born.  Once they are out, they're on their own.

I don’t disagree but it doesn’t seem like these are in fact risk-based or public-health based recommendations, or at least these decisions seem to incorporate political ideologies, and I think I’m being generous to even describe them that way.

I am not sure that you are tracking the difference between universal recs and risk-based recs in this context, but also not sure it matters. Thanks for the @.

Lol, bunch of woke doctors with their “scientific consensus.” Gotta make sure to consider the tik tok mom perspective.

I bet he gets next year’s FIFA prize for medicine.

This message brought to you by Merck and Sanofi, literally.

The new guidance does not change hepatitis b vax rec reach. Just says that if the birthing person is hep negative you don’t have to shoot them up within 12h of taking their first breath, but if you want to, knock it out and go with it. Hep positive or unknown status birthing person, fire away.

Did all you guys really authorize hep b shots on day one for your kids?

It is never not the right time for this Bernie quote:

Quote

Private insurance companies in this country spend between 12 and 18 percent on administration costs. The cost of administering the Medicare program, a very popular program that works well for our seniors, is 2 percent. We can save approximately $500 billion a year just in administration costs.
