This injury should surprise absolutely no one.  Almost inevitable with his usage

That's probably the healthier response. I'm fine, I just don't like this kind of shit. The backroom fuckery of 2008 still looms large in my memory.

Any team that loses 3 games and consequently puts its fate in the hands of the whims of the Committee has no room to bitch.

That's a universe away from losing 1 game on a circus desperation pass to a Top 5 team on the road and getting passed over by another one loss team that you beat by 10 points because that team "had the better loss"

Oof, I'm lucky Wulah 1k was on UT winning out and only head to head taker for Dallas was $100.  That could have been a lot uglier.  RIP

10-2 or 11-1 (and favored in every game but maybe Georgia) was the exact bet. I thought there was a chance OU might be favored and lose me the bet, up until now.

still too soon.  now where's the tequila?

Unfortunate but he'll probably be back after missing 3-4 games These things happen. We lost Ewers for multiple games in each of the past 3 years.

It's been 16 years since we beat blOU in back-to-back seasons and retained the Golden Hat.

I don't care if a tornado sweeps away blOU's entire QB room and they have to slap a helmet on some random methhead under a Norman overpass. We need to fucking beat them.

As long as the methhead is not wearing knee braces.

He hurt it on the followthrough of an innocuous sideline route.

Good insight - QBs shouldn't be throwing passes.

Okay, I’ll go. Not a doctor but just experienced first hand some trauma for someone right in the same body region.

My middle son just broke his forearm at the wrist in the most Tim Krumrie/Joe Theisman fashion possible. Nothing but skin and tendon holding his hand to his body. 11 Y0 in warmups for his first tackle football game ever. Gruesome shit they wouldn’t replay on a telecast.

Took the ER room with 4 people to make 4 attempts before successfully resetting it, per an ER doc. We weren’t in there while they did it. That was on a Friday night. The recommended orthopedist saw us on Monday morning, he had surgery with a pin placement on Tuesday, and they put him in a hard cast 8 days later. That was last Wednesday. If everything is okay, he gets the cast removed in 3 more weeks and then has 2-4 weeks of rehab and can go back to baseball and basketball if he’s pain free.

Anyone saying Mateer will be back in 3-4 weeks is completely full of shit. Bet the over.

On a side note, as an added benefit the hound dog cameramen will be searching out Annabelle Hawkins in the stands. Hopefully she'll wear an outfit like last year.

Sucks for Mateer, I don't mind saying that. Plus, assuming the injury is as bad as is being reported, he stayed in and threw a hell of game after getting injured. I guess adrenaline is a hell of a drug?

No worries at all.  Yes one more loss and the favored thing if UGA is favored I won’t hold it against you.  My 1k would go to burnt ends anyway.  You’re all good sports here.

Damn this sounds like a personal hell , hope he has a speedy recovery

I hate that this is probably right. If he doesn't play, then the narrative is that they would have won with Mateer at QB. If he plays, they will spend the whole game talking about what a tough competitor he is for playing through an injury. If we win, it will be because Mateer wasn't 100%. If we lose, it will be that much worse.

Fuck OU and all that. But this is why I would rather play a healthy team. It's not because I give a shit about Mateer or that portable methlab of a program. It's because it gives them and everyone else excuses to undervalue our win.

Fuck em. I don’t give a shit how many excuses. Beat em by 358 while their women softball 1st base plays LT.

Honestly if we were dogs against OU (or aggy) I would be wrong in what I was saying. The main push back was that people were falling for 9 win 8 win 7 win ceilings and my point was we should be favored at a minimum to be 10-2.

I'd prefer a different Sooner athlete than whatever big mean bitch is playing 1B for their Monstar softball team.

I still remember Mobilehoma pulling the surprise-unknown-ringer-QB Jason White out of their ASS--- and beating us.

Has anyone checked to make sure there aren't any Jason White clones hiding on their roster as a squad-player/etc.?

First sorry about your son, that sucks.  I could never do pediatric anything.  Seeing kids hurt is a tough one.  Godspeed.

My professional opinion on JM with some background…I did all EMG’s / rehab / pain mgt for Dr. Labana and Dr. Kung, a couple of the best hand surgeons in Chicago.  I’ll tell you a hairline fracture of the thumb usually wouldn’t even have surgery and miraculously he completed the game and was much better at the end - because it wasn’t a displaced fracture and there was no ligament/tendon damage.  Id defer to Magnus Ossis or SawBonz but in my professional opinion it’s far from crazy if it was in fact a hairline fracture to return in 4-5 weeks even with a (minimally invasive) surgery.  You’d throw like shit imo but being cleared isn’t crazy.

edit: and my opinion would also be that he would throw like shit completing a game after that injury so wtf do I know…

No no no… he has 12 posts on the football board. The rest are strongly worded letters to the admins.

He hurt it on the followthrough of an innocuous sideline route.
Good insight - QBs shouldn't be throwing passes.
He hurt it because OU's collective dumbass coaches put Jaren Kanak in charge of blocking Keldric Faulk 1 vs 1. Faulk is the #1 edge rusher prospect for the 2026 NFL draft, and that's exactly who Mateer hit on the follow through.

They beat us with trash Nate hybl and Paul Thompson.  The bob stoops sooners were aided by black magic

You guys remember how awful Hawkins was last year, right?

In the last few weeks, OU fans and much of the sports world had become delusional about OU.

I actually heard an OU fan say this is their best team in 15 years and that the only reason they haven’t been great every year was because of QB issues. GTFO with that lunacy.

Mateer was the Vegas Heisman favorite? GTFO of here. Absolutely ridiculous.

Besides Clemson, who’s already crashed, OU was the most overhyped program in the country. And it’s not just bad luck that Mateer is hurt. As many have already said, the entire offense and how it worked was destined to injure him. We should know. We saw Tom Herman use the QB as a battering ram at OSU and Texas.

To be fair, the right tackle isn’t blocking Faulk on 9 out of 10 plays either.

Yep.  But OU fans and the media is reminding everyone he beat Auburn too last year and they will be alright.  All but ignoring his performance a few weeks later against us and OU finished 6-7.

Clemson didn't 'crash.' They were robbed, because like Aggy, they were silenced for daring to question the system. Free Cade Klubnik!

I wanted the Texas D to squash Mateer, but I'll allow a squashing of Hawkins instead.

Auburn has some insanely talented players for a middling program.

Take out his 34-15 record at G5 Liberty and his one year at Arkansas State (10-2) and he's 26-40 in the SEC in 7+ seasons.

Aggy threatened to expose the system, so they were disrespected.

And then, they were purposely hyped up to set them up as a big story, so they would fail to live up to the ridiculous expectations. You need to free your mind to what's really going on:
