My middle son just broke his forearm at the wrist in the most Tim Krumrie/Joe Theisman fashion possible. Nothing but skin and tendon holding his hand to his body. 11 Y0 in warmups for his first tackle football game ever. Gruesome shit they wouldn’t replay on a telecast. Took the ER room with 4 people to make 4 attempts before successfully resetting it, per an ER doc. We weren’t in there while they did it. That was on a Friday night. The recommended orthopedist saw us on Monday morning, he had surgery with a pin placement on Tuesday, and they put him in a hard cast 8 days later. That was last Wednesday. If everything is okay, he gets the cast removed in 3 more weeks and then has 2-4 weeks of rehab and can go back to baseball and basketball if he’s pain free. Anyone saying Mateer will be back in 3-4 weeks is completely full of shit. Bet the over. Damn that stinks prayers for a speedy recovery for the little guy. Amazing what modern medicine can do. Mateer did get hurt passing but the way he runs I was thinking he would get a serious rib or head injury he runs strait up and doesn't protect himself at all.

Mateer was the Vegas Heisman favorite? GTFO of here. Absolutely ridiculous. Besides Clemson, who’s already crashed, OU was the most overhyped program in the country. And it’s not just bad luck that Mateer is hurt. As many have already said, the entire offense and how it worked was destined to injure him. We should know. We saw Tom Herman use the QB as a battering ram at OSU and Texas. Haven't you heard? OU is in the SEC SEC SEC now so of course they going to get some hype. It sucks a Texas player didn't end his season but maybe this is actually better because I fucking HATE when blowU suddenly has a magical backup QB beat our ass somehow. That shit just kept happening and now we are hopefully prepared for whatever cheatin' ass shit they are going to try to pull with the backup or the 3rd stringer or wildcat.

This isn't a Bull defense or a Mack team. Scared shitless of the Goiter and his tricks. At least I hope not.

We saw Tom Herman use the QB as a battering ram at OSU and Texas. With Mateer I think they're comfortably better than Clemson (not that that's a high fucking bar) but I agree. Auburn will be lucky to win 7 games. Michigan is fine but as of now they are probably the 5th or 6th best team in the B10. Those were both home games. Texas has what, 15 wins of that caliber or better the past 2 seasons? Those aren't statement wins past the statement "hey OU doesn't look like a trainwreck this season and their QB is pretty good". I would have liked to play them with Mateer but I would also have liked Jonathan Brooks to not tear his ACL in 2023 and Colt to not fuck up his shoulder in the national title game. Shit happens. We're going to find a lot out about the top 10 the next few weeks.
September 24Sep 24 Prior backups are an unfair comparison for Mike Hawkins. Jason White and Caleb Williams both went on to win Heisman trophies after coming off the bench to beat us.

Coming into that RRS, the *consensus* was "OU is playing better than anyone!"... and we kicked their ass on a neutral field, scoring TD after TD in the second half while they were punting, fake punting, and flop punting. We were clearly the tougher, better team, and we proved it, winning by two scores and leaving no doubt. That was one of the most satisfying wins in UT history. Then a few weeks later, we lost on the road to a top-5 team... on the last snap from scrimmage. Which put us in a 3-way tie, in a round robin where we were the only team not to get a home game, and OU was the only team not to play a road game. And at the end of the year: "OU is playing better than anyone!" while Briles, Stoops, and their entire coaching trees were voting UT #5 in the coaching poll (which was part of the formula at the time). Such bullshit. Did I already say that I'm still angry?

Wrong wrong wrong. Never cheer for OU, ever. If OU is playing the Taliban, I’m wearing a turban or whatever the fuck garb they’ve got going. If Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin, Mao and Mussolini have been summoned by Satan on the opposing sidelines to lead the charge against the sooners, I’m face painted with a pentagram and swearing allegiance to the Prince of Darkness. Never cheer for OU.
