Ronnie Van Zant was one of the greatest songwriter, composer of that era.

His rise to fame ended way to soon as on October 20, 1977, a plane carrying the band between shows from Greenville, South Carolina, to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, ran out of fuel outside Gillsburg, Mississippi. The passengers had been informed about potential problems with the Convair CV-240 and were told to brace for a crash. Van Zant died upon impact.

U-Tube has several of his recorded shows as well as his Austin Texas Show.

No, I never think of them or listen either.

They were his little brothers with very little talent in my opinion.

Look it up on U-tube and listen to Free Bird, Sweet Home Alabama and Simple Man by the Original Band.

The fuel mixture was way to rich. Pilots apparently did not notice. Seems stupid to me.

I heard Neil Young sabotaged the plane.

Never was much of a LS fan….but I will on occasion bang on da bongos to this RCB song from 1980

Damon Johnson of Brother Cane (semi-)fame is in the touring band now. So I will allow it.
