Luiz PK makes it a brace for Villa's #6.

2-nil to the *real* claret-and-blue in the 51st.

fuckery gift for ramjet
FAFO

Oof. Unlucky deflection proves once again that 2-nil is the hardest lead to maintain.

Ollie! Ollie! Ollie!

Great strike in front of the Holte End!

3-1 to the Villa in the 74th

Diaby with a super finish in front of the Holte End!

2-nil to the Villa in the 50th.

He’s a really fun player. I’m glad Villa kept him from playing in Saudi obscurity.

Not the prettiest, but Diaby causes what should be an OG to make it 3 for the Villa in the 63rd!

Well that was a bit of a clown show to ruin the clean sheet...

No doubt that was a foul pulling Rodri, but that stuff happens every game and never gets called in the box.   Seems harsh.

This United backline never stood a chance. Using Eriksen in a double pivot is hopeless defensively as well.

I have no problems with that call. Franky it’s the type of call that VAR should be cleaning up.

That commercial at the half for the Jaeger LeCoultre watch has to be peak demonstration of the difference in US audience and British audience.

100% agree. It happens all the time but that’s kinda the problem. It needs to be getting called more often, especially when it’s such an obvious pullback

My problem isn’t the call but the lack of consistency.   If they start calling that regularly, it’ll quit happening on set pieces in the box.

100%

Aston Villa legend Charlie Aitken passed away today at the same of 81.

I was very fortunate to meet him at Villa Park back in 2015. A very nice and humorous gentleman.

Yes and yes. These are calls that need to be made so they clean up the sport more.

I think this is the thing that blows me away about VAR - they implement it to clean up the game, but then don't actually clean up the game. if you aren't going to make calls to clean things up, then you might as well get rid of VAR and go back to the old way.

And if you're keeping VAR, fucking learn what a handball is.

It took them about 6 minutes to triangulate the offsides lines in the Burnley-Bournemouth game. If one end of screwing up is the disallowed Luis Diaz goal this is the other end of it. At some point you just have to go with the call on the field.

All of these. Consistency is all we really want.

this hasn’t been a football match, it’s been a gang fight, and bruno should be locked up and prosecuted for his play today. atrocious officiating. game has been completely out of hand.

nufc awarded the most dubious goal of the season. joelinton with a blatant two-handed shove on the goal line which is deemed to not be a foul upon review, plus a dubious offside no-call on top of that. at this point i think that a newcastle player could climb up onto the crossbar and go full rey mysterio on an arsenal player and the ref would just shrug and say, “play on”.

they actually had this freeze gram displayed on the screen for ~30 seconds *after* declaring that this wasn’t a foul. you’re just stuck looking at a freeze frame of the goddamn foul as they announce to you that VAR has said that there is no foul, and that they’ve moved on to checking for offside. just asinine.

bruno could have sent off 3-4 times already today and he just now got his first booking. punches, elbows, shoves, forearms, stiff arms- this motherfucjer has been full on Night Train Lane today and it’s taken him 87 minutes to even get a card.

Fuuuuuu..... Forest with a nice strike for the early lead.

I mean, the officials just got back from their all-expenses paid holiday and bags of cash to ref matches in Saudi. Have to expect some return on that investment.

Since Forest didn’t start Turner today, it would be really cool if Villa came back and put 4 past Vlachodimos

The Forest manager looks like he's there because of some Make-a-Wish fulfillment or something.

VAR has really dominated the play.. is he Dutch?
