August 2, 20232 yr someone didn't check the code to make sure they didn't tell the antenna to turn itself 2 degrees...... supposedly V'Ger 2 will auto reset itself in the correct position on oct 15th NASA Coder:
August 2, 20232 yr I saw this yesterday and my first thought was.... We're worried about a 45 year old satellite is malfunctioning? Considering this thing was built with 70's technology and has been floating around in the ether for that long, it's been a huge success.
August 2, 20232 yr So we couldn't buid a Ford Pinto that wouldn't explode when it hit a speedbump, but we're supposed to believe we could build a machine that could fly through radiation and space dust for 45 years straight? Riiiiight.

August 2, 20232 yr Isn't the failure to properly rotate the antenna what caused HAL to freak the fuck out initially? And this is all happening IRL, the same week NASA announces they've already deployed AI on some of their previous missions? Yeah, can't wait to see where this is going...
August 2, 20232 yr Shoot, I'm 46 and sometimes I don't function properly, and sometimes my antenna points the wrong way.
