Hell, even a nice Methodist or Presbyterian one? Yep....although bring some hot sauce with you. Best I ever had, though, was a joint MLK day service we did with Ebenezer Baptist Church. GotDAMN. They brought it. Guess you never went to a Greek church potluck/festival/wedding? Those were the best I ever went to. Incredible food, lamb on the coals, old Greek dudes pushing shots of ouzo. Just pure joy .

October 13Oct 13 Is the Kroger spray cheese worth a shit? HEB's is... not. Spray cheese is one of those few things where the name brand is worth it.
October 13Oct 13 I know Great Value is frowned upon around here, but it smokes HEB in this particular niche. Real Easy Cheese is up to $5.53/can now.

October 15Oct 15 Played Plum Creek with my BiL today. Came home and realized I had some leftover fried okra and fries from Oldies in Wimberley, plus some container of queso. Zapped it to pair with my Jack and Coke.

October 22Oct 22 Fried Gizzards from chicken express. Now I've never had them before but after years of people here mentioning them I figured I'd give them a try today. I like the flavor and the how crispy the batter is, but are the gizzards always chewy?

I always do them in a foil pack on the grill when I’m cooking other stuff. Butter, garlic, copious amounts of different seasonings.

I'd fill a gallon ziploc with hearts, some oil, and seasoning of choice (often zatarains). Put on bamboo skewer, grill, eat while drinking beer.

I still fire up my little homemade yakitori grill every 2-3 weeks and cook a dozen skewers of chicken hearts basted with Tare sauce. I'm not sure there is a better bite, on the planet, for the cost. They are cheap enough that I boil a whole 1 lb.+/- package each week as dog treats. CHIEF Edited October 23Oct 23 by CHIEF dog treat
October 23Oct 23 Last year I was hammered in Long Island City around 3am and bought 9 skewers of chicken hearts off a food truck and just destroyed most of them. Not my proudest moment but I love chicken hearts

Swear there's a restaurant in Austin that was on Bordain or some cooking show that specializes in brains and scrambled eggs. I'm sure some of the folks here know it. Brains and Eggs used to be a southern staple.

Nice to have it outside of just Thanksgiving. And roast pork and sauerkraut, hell yes. We hit the St Mary’s (High Hill) one up every Labor Day (Sunday). They make some damn fine fried chicken.
