When Wisner is back the running game is much better. The young guys have looked good but Wisner is an elite back when he is healthy.

I think he is solid. He has really good vision, but not a guy that maximizes runs. I think the recent IT review with Homer and Scip showed he was near the bottom of the SEC with under 1 yard after contact. Obviously small sample size and vs an excellent tackling team in OSU, but elite is a higher bar.

Agree, OU's offense was teetering on disaster multiple times against Auburn, but I suspect  we will find out that Auburn defense isn't half bad and OU has no other real offensive weapons outside of their quarterback.

I dont know about that...Deion Burkes and Satenga are both very good WRs.

so what was that stat from last year?  that would seem to be a more reasonable bar to look at, than part of one game against the #1 team in the nation.

Agreed, and Baxter.

Nah he's not special or anything, but the run game does "work" better when he's in. He was running on OSU the first game. and he just seems to find holes and get yards.

He's not going to wow anyone withe game brakers or juke moves...but the dude find the hole, runs hard, and is reliable. The Run game is not as good without him...hasn't been this year or last.

Not so fast my friend.  I present you with 6 minutes of Trey doing some very good things, breaking tackles and multiple 30-40 yard runs.

Oh I'll be happy to say he's even better than I said, don't have to twist my arm.  What I mean is he's not Bijon or Jeanty(and if you say he's anything more than he's 'JAG" some on here will shit all over you)...but he's MORE than good enough and sorely missed in our running game.

I just feel like the one thing our OL does well is the inside blocking, and Wisner feasts on that.   I'm not so sure on all the pulls and run outs though.

Agreed. i believe he will dramatically improve the run game/offense.  Those highlights really exemplify how good QE was in the short passing game.  Such good poise and touch (remains to be seen if Arch can do that consistently) and TW turns it up field as good anyone on the team.

Did we ever hear what the injury was?

agree. At least to me, elite is a very high bar. Anyone wants to say he a very good RB, I have 0 issues. Elite is different bar.

Quincy Avery ripped into Arch on the Ryen Rusillo podcast today. Was hard to take him seriously, though, when he was glazing Dante Moore for beating no one.

They better be, because they are going to have Hawkins throwing to them for a few games.

This might explain it. Dante Moore - Elite 11 alum. Is Manning Academy his direct competition?

I started this episode but didn't make it that far. Avery was just so dry and dull.

Just listened and he hit the trifecta:

1. Why didn’t Arch participate in Elite 11?

2. Arch never played top competition in high school

3 “If his last name was anything but Manning, he would have already been benched for KJ Lacey”

Groundbreaking stuff

You know what we haven't seen this year? The Sark special 180 degree screen pass to the RB. I guess Arch can't throw that one.

Arch can’t grimace and pirouette at the same time.

That wasn’t a sark special, that was a Quinn special.

Second play. Probably would've been blown up against better competition.

If his last name was Ewers he would be a second year starter.

Pretty sure we did try it once, I think either against OSU or San Jose St. I remember because it was just as stressful as always and got blown up in the backfield.

Some of Sark's plays, particularly the screens, look like something I would have drawn on a football in the yard when my dad asked me what I wanted to run.

I hate that play. When it works it looks so good, but it is also has been almost picked a few times. Tough play for the QB to see if the defense has sniffed it out

A lot of teams do it now and defenses are ready for it.  It pretty reliant on the misdirection working to be successful.

Yeah, I wish Sark would put that play back on the shelf. It looks cool and has worked well the last few seasons, but defenses are clearly starting to read it and at some point this season it is going to bite us on the ass. With a throw like that, there won't be anyone between the defender and our endzone if he picks off the screen.

The problem with the ballerina play is it is ALWAYS a screen.  If you are going to take the amount of time required to fake a hand off, do a pirouette, pick up your receiver and THEN deliver the fooball maybe chuck it deep every now and then.  The time gives up close DLs and LBs time to recover but if the knowledge that "this is probably a screen" could get some DBs to hesitate even for a click there may be something there.

Of course the O linemen have to not fuck up and get too far down the field, which on that 2nd play above it appears they actually didn't.

Where are the highlights from the UGA games? Also, only one highlight from the tOSU game on a broken play. Hope he can have some highlight runs against tougher competition this year.

You can tell he's locked in if he thinks Lacey is second string.

I mean, Quincy Avery isn’t a nobody in the world of D1 QBs.  He runs Elite 11.  He has credibility.  But that also tells on him re: Arch because Arch passed on that camp. So yeah. He’s got an axe to grind.

Holy shit. Finally watched the Sam Houston game. Arch was fantastic. I don’t care if they were playing a high school team. I didn’t get a sense that surly was excited enough about his performance.

Dude, it was Sam Houston.

We are all now cautiously optimistic that Arch has un-fucked himself. If he just makes the routine, 1st read passes, we'll be in every game.

He was missing receivers against air in the previous games. At least his radar has been properly adjusted so that he trust his aim.

this is where i think a lot of us our at : cautiously optimistic , wanting to see consistency against good defense

if arch and sark fix the above, i think expectations and confidence reach sky high levels

until then , you've had 1 good game against a shit team

I thought he was serviceable against San Jose St, too, but 50% won't win us any championships.

It's like having those new air pods

He made tough throws. He was relatively accurate. He hit a long ball perfectly. He previously looked like crap against bad teams.  This was a major step forward.

The crazy thing is how he started nearly identical to previous weeks until Moore caught a crazy low ball at his ankles.  Felt like him seeing that completion loosened him up.

The one really positive thing I get from Wisner and Baxter being out is, we have a huge stable of RBs that have game experience now.

The pass is behind the neutral zone, so that rule doesn't matter. Lineman can be wherever they want.

Yes, but if it went down field, they'd have to stay at the LOS.
