DJ Monroe on the sideline is actually the best (and worst) part.

For me it’s the receiver that hooks back short of the first down line to catch the ball.

Yes, but as a non-Texas fan, you lack the context.

somehow both of our qbs from last year were better than our starter this year, even though he was none of those qbs last year, and in fact was the backup. so make sense of that.

#5811

Are we going to throw away next year if he never gets better? Time to start tampering an experienced guy into the portal.

#5814

I can't believe I was worried we'd only get one year of him. I hope he never plays another snap after this half but I know that won't happen.

Texas has to get a veteran QB in the portal and I really couldn’t give two fucking shits what the Manning family thinks about it.

#5816

There’s obviously plenty of issues with this team beyond just QB, but it’s clear now that Manning just sucks. Too late making his reads, looks jumpy as fuck in the pocket, no touch on his throws. Need to tell this kid to hit the fucking portal so he can go play for Louisiana Tech next year.

Hell of play on that TD throw 💥

to be fair to arch, 90% of the team appears to have also completely regressed, so he’s got that going for him.

This is where my head is at. Manning sucks, but so does the offense. So does the OL. And Florida is showing that you just need to bully the defense to break through. And the special teams effed up. It’s a total program breakdown, and at this point you have to look at Manning’s and Ewers lack of development and point to the coach.

#5824

i’ll say this for arch, he’s stood tall in the pocket and taken a beating. he’s giving his all and he isn’t blinking. i wish we could see what he looked like with an o line that didn’t have him constantly running for his life and/or getting walloped.

I think arch should transfer.

this is a terrible take. if arch was some normal first year starter nobody would be freaking out like this. don’t let the over the top expectations make you quit on him this quickly. he’s playing his ass off despite getting killed out there. he’s been a big letdown, but so has everyone else. this coaching staff has some ‘splaining to do.

#5826

Arch is not at the top of the list of things that went wrong today. Outside of the int I think this has been a relatively good game from him considering his OL has been a sieve. Definitely a game he can build on.

All of his passing is all or nothing and ewers was 10 yards or less. We bitch about both lol idk what to have if we had to pick one. Apparently we can only have one.

He should transfer for his own benefit is more my take. Arch is not the problem.

#5832

This is just one of those days when you want to throw on some Vuori clothes, put on a  pair of Warby Parkers, and call a self-driving taxi that locks you in.

#5834

No dude, Arch is a net negative. In a vacuum, he cannot make throws to wide open receivers with time the O line occasionally gives him. With a great O line, reasonably good running backs, he might hold par. Unfortunately, Texas needs a QB that transcends the apparently shitty team Sark has trotted out this year.

#5835

Arch actually played really well today, under the circumstances.

OL should be in the doghouse.

He tries hard. I’ll give him that. But so does my dishwasher.

Absolutely this. Arch was a warrior today, the kid stood tall in there and got his ass kicked and still gave us chances at the end. Happy to see us switch out Stroh for Brooks, that seemed to calm the pocket a bit.

This,  growing pains and I am not sure if there is a way to avoid them and bloodlines don't mean shit when you are learning your way around the game.

You can see the talent flash and I am lost why Sark keeps forcing him into the offense instead of fitting the offense to Arch's strengths.

Texas fans are going to have a negative association with Warby Parker for years

LOL if it becomes long-term meme on Surly.

We deserve it.  Those commercials are weak as shit.

You’d expect Arch to be more prepared for moments like that. He has to know he can’t take sacks. Disappointing ending for an otherwise pretty decent game from him.

It's a reference to Greg Davis moving on to Iowa for several years and doing Greg Davis things there, too.

He also did Greg Davis things at North Carolina with Mack Brown before coming over to Texas. If a fan base is really excited to see someone leave, there's often a reason for it. Iowa fans dismissed Texas fans for a while until they finally came to the realization there was something to all the criticism.

Well, I see improvement.

At least I'm not looking at this game feeling like the one player on the team who deserves the most blame is Arch Manning. I didn't think anyone would move the ball on this defense the way Florida did in the first half. They came back and limited Florida to 7 points in the second half, but my goodness.

I'm not saying Manning played the perfect game, but he played better. Now that our playoff hopes are pretty close to dead, I will hope he shows continued improvement over the rest of the season.
