October 12Oct 12 Wisner dragging hits nuts and hitting that "suck my taint" clutch is what made this offense look tremendous. He'll go down in Longhorn lore.

October 12Oct 12 20 minutes ago, BurntOrange&White said: The two QBs had the inverse of problems imo. Quinn couldn’t hit deep because he as bad at it, Arch wasn’t hitting check downs and underneath because he was trying to go deep too much I suppose but maybe also the Sark offense moves better hitting checkdowns and underneath, especially when you have trouble running the ball against solid fronts. I'm just commenting that no one is calling Manning "Checkdown Charlie". the thing I see from Manning that is completely different from Quinn is that he can move and hit receivers on the run. he had a couple of throws rolling left, which is much harder, that were pretty damn good.

Arch gets more confident. Makes better throws later in the game. Agreed. Which begs the question, why did it take Sark that long to learn and craft a game plan like the one we saw Saturday? A lot of this board has been begging for that for weeks now. (Or, in Surl-speak: "Come on, dude, we're pretty fuckin' dumb and we saw it.")

I think Sark heard all the bitching about Ewers inability to throw the deep ball with any accuracy. He then ignored that the OL cannot pass protect long enough for deep pass plays to materialize and while Arch has a great arm he couldn’t make the passes under duress. Losing to Florida I hope crystallized for Sark that Arch needs to get rid of ball faster, move pocket and sitting Stroh’s leprous ass work to allow the offense to sustain drives and to let D rest.
October 12Oct 12 There were many grande plays in this game. One of the biggest was when Arch rolled right and delivered that perfect strike to Alan Jackson inches from the sideline. First and ten, do it again.

October 12Oct 12 I think our little Archie might be growing into his big boy pants. We shall see. Nobody left on our schedule is some Juggernaut, but they need to just cover the games that aren't immediately the next one up. And yes, we are beating aggy. They're a paper tiger. Actually, even on paper they're not very good. But they are a top-5 team while roller-coaster season is approaching, but I want them healthy and with no injuries, because I want zero excuses for when we absolutely go gonzo rape their faces. We are trending up, and they are about to get humbled very, very soon. This has nothing to do with the ou game, this is just an objective fact. We own them, just like we own ou.

October 12Oct 12 The second half was the best called game this year. The 3rd qtr was the best sark 3rd qtr. question. In the second half we started running the ball with arch under center almost like a stretch zone looking play that actually was successful and started to churn up yards I don’t recall us trying to run that previously.

Yesterday was the most relaxed and confident we've seen Arch this year. Hard to believe it took 6 games ... Edited October 12Oct 12 by wood

He has a good foundation. He will figure it out and it will be a treat to watch when we see it in an entire game against elite competition.

October 12Oct 12 Yep. Vs Florida it was boom/bust and between drops/errant throws/penalties it led to perfect storm of shit. While some of the screens yesterday I think should be ripped out of playbook (qb spinaround pass back to TE eg) it was a much more conservative passing attack that boosted Arch confidence and kept Oline from having to hold blocks all day bTo extent it was a more conservative passing attack from a play calling standpoint. That extent specifically is limited to the designed screens, basically. The rest of the short quick passing that we seem to be chalking up to a “new gameplay”, are not really that, IMO. This replays are the result of Arch getting a little more time to go away from the deep reads that are not there and also his taking a little LESS time to abandon the deep stuff and check to the shorter options.I haven’t re-watched them game, but that’s my understanding from being there yesterday (with several beverages in me).

To be fair to Sark he calls great plays sometimes and then dumb OL play puts them in 2nd and 25 He calls first down runs that go for -3 yards and is having to dig out of a hole. A lot easier in that second half where a run play goes for 3-5 instead of negative yardage. Sark sees the safeties playing way back, and the run should have numbers, but if the OL doesn’t execute it’s not all on Sark. It is on flood and the OL, which sark ultimately needs to keep fixing as weeks progress. Baxter would be a season changing back if he really can come back healthy. I love Wisner too, but sometimes he doesn’t look like an every down back like Sark uses.
