Arch put the ball in danger in the redzone. It was one of his worst decisions. There is no way Sark is saying do that again to Arch. It was very Brett Favre-ish Edited November 24Nov 24 by Codaxx
November 24Nov 24 Meh. The defender reacted slowly to the ball because the play was off schedule. I’m good with being aggressive there with the defense on their heels.

Or if the ball is tipped up in the crowd and it is a turnover? I doubt anyone will say it is a good decision.
November 24Nov 24 that throw is one that nfl pundits and scouts will point to over and over and over again when talking about how arch can make “all the throws”. that was one of the best plays/passes we’ve seen from a qb in a long time.

I think Sark would focus on him hitting the corner route that appeared open a moment before he bailed the pocket rather than worrying about that throw.
November 24Nov 24 It looked like Moore could have kept going toward the sideline and been wide open too

I think the DB should have gotten a hand on it, but that is probably why he is a DB. That ball was about a foot low and why it was playable by the DB (as a general rule you want to be high in the back of the endzone), but that is a really tight window with a QB rolling left and throwing to the right. That is a really tough throw. Not a lot of QBs can make that throw. Totally respect the talent that it took to make the throw, but it is also one of those "No, YESSS!!!" throws for a coach. November 24Nov 24 i think we need to be clear about something: that throw went over the defender’s hands, not through them. the defender didn’t screw up an int that hit him in the sweet spot, Arch layered a pass that went over the defender’s hands by about an inch, and then dropped down to his receiver in the back of the end zone. seriously, it’s one of the most impressive throws i’ve ever seen from a Texas qb. to call it pedestrian would be laughable; to say it was a bad throw and that arch got lucky is “let’s get you checked into a home because your mind is gone” levels of crazy. I mean the throw was hard enough that even if the DB had gotten a hand on it he was not catching it and a tip goes out of bounds, should it be a staple? hell no, but just like a long fade those are safe passes.
November 24Nov 24 As a former DB who has excellent hands, I don't think I would have caught it but it would have bounced threw my hands hard enough to go out the back of the endzone.
November 24Nov 24 Sark is probably talking to Arch about the benefits of letting his nutz hang. Not introducing fear and doubt into our baby warrior’s psyche.
November 24Nov 24 Arch Manning: Scores every way possible Huh? He didn't get a field goal, extra point or safety... 😀
November 24Nov 24 Breakdown - best parts - do you want to be whether their pocket collapsed and he has some heat in his face? It's college - there are going to be breakdowns, but not every breakdown should happen in the first three seconds. Hey - he passed the stunt off which is something their offensive line couldn't do earlier in the year.

November 24Nov 24 Arch will need to keep up this level of play - defense is now giving up >30 points per game.

Going to be a long time until someone breaks his passes intercepted record. That said the one reason this offense is not a disaster has been Arch's ability to limit turnovers, despite a dirty pocket. It was a great throw, but just didnt love this decision on this play. One of those throws that when it works people go "oh my god" and when it does not they call the QB an idiot. November 24Nov 24 We haven't had this level of accuracy from a QB since Colt and Arch is perhaps better with the long ball than Colt was. Last year, it felt like the offense was being held back by Quinn's inconsistencies and self-sacks. We don't have that issue anymore. Quinn also often led the receivers to being hit (i.e. Bond injury). At the risk of sounding like an Aggy, I do feel like next year will be our year if we get some run support and DBs in the portal.

Seeing Arch's ability to navigate the pocket is refreshing. I'm to the point where I expect it. He does still tend to put too much heat on certain passes that don't need it, but those deep balls against Arky were eye-opening. (Of course almost every one of them was to a wide open receiver, but still.)
November 24Nov 24 Arch’s improvement has been great to see. I was pretty vocal as to my opinion that I didn’t think he could really play early on. I’m not smart enough to know if it’s been scheme or him or what. But plenty glad to have been wrong about my assessment. Now get the other shit fixed.

Like I said earlier, if the QB had a lesser arm, that's probably a pick ... but Arch has a cannon, and an amazingly quick release. He'll probably get some of those picked along the way, but he's also gonna complete a lot of passes that leave people scratching their heads, saying "How'd he get that through there?".

He never places blame anywhere else. The nasty criticism, the memes, the jokes...he took it all in stride. For arguably the most nationally hyped player ever at Texas, it feels like our fanbase has kept their distance from him in some ways. This dude has handled his first 3 years at Texas with a maturity and grace that is incredibly impressive. He deserves better from us IMO.

(love Arch, rooting for him, but he's not quite there yet) I’d like you to explain QBR in the context of say a 40% pressure rate or a 20% rate of runs resulting in zero or negative yards. Or a 12 of 37 contested catch rate versus Reed’s 21 of 32 contested catch rate. This is an honest question. I’ve read up a bit on QBR, but it’s rather vague on the impact of certain conceptual things.

Yes he got booed after a truly horrible stretch but that didn't seem all that nasty under the circumstances, and everyone was quick to encourage him soon-after. It's hard not to like the kid. I'd like to think he's is having the time of his life.
