November 27Nov 27 Arch really needs Wingo to have the best game of his career tomorrow. Has to create some space and most importantly come down with the catch. Do not listen to the rat poison. He has played great the last few months but this game is what it’s all about. I don’t think the atm defense is as good as the announcers were making them out to be next week.. Let’s go Arch!! Make your way to NY

Up until now, Arch has done well against zone and struggled a decent bit against man teams. My question is what will Sark do to prevent aggy from bumping up our receivers and forcing us to hold the ball? I hope to see a lot of 3x1 sets, where aggy is forced to zone one side of the field. We cannot just rely on man beaters, as sometimes those take a while to develop. Running game, we need to run split zone. It's our best running play and we do not utilize it near enough. It's the play that fits Wisner's skillset the best imo. Run the ball and do not abandon it. We get discouraged when we get to cute and it doesn't work. Passing game, do NOT try to force the ball to Wingo. Versus Georgia we seemed like we were trying hard to feature him and the result was a drop on a crucial third down. A 40 yard ball that was dropped early in the game. Two trip and falls in the screen game. And getting bodyslammed twice. Wingo has not come up big for us in a big game one time since he has been on the 40. Spread the ball around. Lastly, Arch just needs to outplay Reed. Period. If he goes for 250 and a touch, Arch needs to go for 251. Came up pretty big against Vandy. That was a big game.

So, we are up 3 scores and Manning is going to kneel for a safety to reduce it to 2 scores?

We need you to cancel out number 7 for aggy this week. If he makes a play, you put your helmet on and go out there and make one too.

We’ve been telegraphing that for the past 3 weeks Remember Morenz throwing a pass straight #9 Marcus Buckley who took it in for a TD? For weeks I’ve thought that throwing wide to Wingo or whoever on that bubble screen would be a mistake that will be taken to the house by #9 Howell.

November 29Nov 29 With the way he's played down the stretch, I just hope he's back next season. Someone would take him in the 1st round.
November 29Nov 29 So uh… he’s like real good. Get Caldwell in here Edited November 29Nov 29 by hobbes2702
November 29Nov 29 Popular Post Monster 2nd half for Arch. Both he and Sark unfucked themselves and made aggy pay.

The best 2-3 plays in the first half were Wisner. And he went back to that and then some. It was so great to see him not over think it too much. Take what they give. He did and Texas punked those goobers.

Took 20 mins in the locker room to get his head right. He was missing throws left and right in the 1st half. Doesn't matter because he righted the ship.
November 29Nov 29 Arch played a helluva game, but it wasn’t looking great in the first half. His fault, sark’s fault, doesn’t matter. Arch was a fucking champ, but it was the second half that made it. It’s okay to see that.

November 29Nov 29 What an impressive way to silence the critics who seemed so please to see him struggle early on. On a team without much run game, underperforming WR, 3rd quartile OL, he put up numbers that rival those who will contend for the Heisman. So glad to see him perform so well in the second half on a big stage with a lot at stake for aggy. Protected the ball well this year too for all his struggles and the number of times he got hit.
November 29Nov 29 And the thing is he can still be better. he needs to spend all offseason working on ways to improve his accuracy and touch. He gets that With his talent and ability to keep plays alive and he’ll be a sure fire heisman guy.

The easy throws need to get easier. But damn hes got talent.

It turns out that aggy isn’t moronic all of the time. Just most of the time. As you predicted, that first play couldn’t have been a surprise to anyone that was paying attention. I was certainly expecting something like that. Edit to add: Hobbes was talking about setting up the Wingo pass on the first play of the game, based on 4 straight games leading off with a WR screen. November 29Nov 29 Arch looks incredible for long stretches, despite consistent, immediate QB pressure. We need a major OL overhaul. Coaches and players.

November 29Nov 29 I felt like he should’ve ran more in the season like today. Glad he did today! They couldn’t stop him. Hopefully next year he continues. That dude loves standing tall in the pocket, refreshing to see. He really turned a corner this season. Does he need to improve, of course but some of the throws he makes are incredible. If he puts it all together, he’ll walk out of here with a heisman.

He wants to see people open. You gotta THROW people open. Sark figured out that was Arch's kryptonite and then changed the passing game to more stationary targets. Much more guys finding places to sit down against zone. However, aggy is a man team and that doesn't really work against them. It was obvious in the first half that was bothering Arch. I said(I think it was in the game thread but I'm getting old so who knows) that Arch has to push through the weakest part of his game. It was good to see him take baby steps down the stretch of this game. You are right though, he needs to get in the lab in the offseason and get comfortable with that part of his game. If he can do that he will have fully turned the corner. I know he rest of you feel this way but I am tired of being the only blue blood not turning out NFL career starters at QB and receiver. You know, the glory positions. Arch has a chance to make us proud on Sundays.

If he puts it all together, he’ll walk out of here with a heisman. I think he didn't for two coaching reasons. First, fear of injury, second, developing an over-dependence on it. He probably could have run his way out of numerous bad plays, some of his own making, with varying degrees of success, and probably also missed a couple more games. As frustrating as it may have been not to have him run out of bad plays, Arch's ability to stand in the pocket, and often deliver, see above, is one of his great skills.
