A special fuck you to the bitch ass pussies that have infected this thread for the last week. Maybe the most pathetic display from Texas fans regarding one of our players that I've ever seen.  Ar

I mean, that was a fucking badass TD run by Arch. He's so goddamn big and physical.

Will be fun to see this offense take on his personality next year. We are going to run over opponents.

I think we should all say a little prayer for poor Marcus Radcliffe, who now belongs in the Manning trophy case forever.

The Texas Longhorns are getting ready for a rematch with the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship Game. It’s a game that head coach Steve Sarkisian plans on having some new offensive wrinkles for, including potentially using backup quarterback Arch Manning in some manner.

Ahead of the game, Sarkisian was asked if there’d be a chance to open the playbook up and get Manning involved more than he had earlier this season. While he didn’t share any exact plans, Sarkisian did explain that they’re always looking to add to the offense.

“We might,” Steve Sarkisian smiled. “I don’t know. I would say, no, we haven’t fully opened our playbook because as a staff we sit around and think about our roster and we think about our team and we think about what we’re good at and we think about what we can improve, and we’re gonna run stuff Saturday that we haven’t run all year because of who were are as a team now and finding new ways to try and move the football and create issues for our opponents.”

Arch Manning has gotten a fair amount of playing time this season. He replaced Quinn Ewers when Ewers battled injury. He’s also seen action in some specific situations, like in quarterback run scenarios in the win against Texas A&M.

“There’s always things that we’re gonna do that are new. I think that the beauty of these guys, offensively, is that they really accept that stuff. Okay, here’s why we’re doing it. So, let’s make sure we get this aspect right,” Sarkisian said.

“So, I don’t know. We did Wildcat there for about three years and that was a big part of what we did with Roschon [Johnson] and we threw Arch in here on a couple of opportunities here in the high red[zone] to get into some quarterback run stuff. We’ve gotten into 21 stuff and utilized [Jaydon] Blue and Tre [Wisner] together. We’re constantly trying to evolve that stuff. We did some tackle over things in this game that we hadn’t shown much of throughout the year. You’re always trying to find little tweaks and things to find some advantages along the way. So, I’m sure there’ll be a few new wrinkles this Saturday as well.”

Texas has had plenty of offensive success under Steve Sarkisian and, in particular, during the 2024 season. The Longhorns are currently 21st in the country in scoring offense with 34.8 points per game.

However, in their first meeting with Georgia, the Longhorns were held to just 15 points. So, there is pressure on Sarkisian to find a new way to create offense this week.

He should have been incorporating some type of package all season. I hope he doesn’t do the same type of wildcat package they did with Johnson. Because it was always a run.

I mean Urban had Jesusbow throw the rock 33 times in situational plays and all it did was help them win the 2006 BCS game.

Sark is setting up a toss in the endzone with Arch. It's happening. Whether it's the UGA game or in the playoffs.

The second-best Arch play of the night was when Sark used him to steal a timeout from Elko.  Just before the Blue touchdown he sent in Arch.  Elko burns the timeout to discuss it or get the right personnel on the field, then Sark immediately puts Quinn back in instead.  Just toying with them.

Why? We didn’t need it. Pretty clear we’re still saving things for post season

And scored a TD the next play.

He's talking about the collective aggy ani. That loss destroyed them like a fresh off the bus, first timer from Kansas in a Johnny Wadd flick.

I made a joke up thread about him running right through Radcliffe, but I didn’t really appreciate the hit he puts on #25 at the goaline.

This is so god damn perfect and amazing.

Also the way Arch just shrugs off the tackler...I didn't know he had that kind of strength.

Not sure when - or if - the substitution rule changed, but it used to be the case that when you subbed in, you had to stay in for at least one play. If that hasn't changed, the refs missed it. I wondered at the time, but it wasn't even mentioned.

Elko called a timeout, therefore the sub back to Quinn was legal.

Hook’em!!!

Not a "play", but I get it.

And... if you are not reading this in the voice of John Facenda, you are doing it wrong.

It's the same as when a player's helmet cones off he doesn't have to sit out a play if a timeout is called.

Reminds me of Csonka or Riggins highlights on there.

That depends on which team calls the TO, I think.

The substitution stuff has been badly fucked since they started keeping the O from putting the ball in play but letting the play clock keep running. I've also noticed quite a few games in which it appears that the play clock stops on 25 until the ref steps out of the way.

I thought the “hollowed ground” was just outside the stadium

No references to Archie saying ideally they’d like for Arch to play three more years at Texas? If I missed it I apologize.

Damn good memories as a kid glued to the tv watching NFL films. All that's missing in that video is John Facenda narrating it!

I believe either team calling a time out removes that requirement.

If Sark wants to make the switch to Arch over the next 4 games, it needs to be sooner rather than later, esp if our first 2 games are against SMU and either Boise or Az st.

Yeah I wouldn't hold your breath on this. That would be legitimately shocking.

Link to this?

Saban would have switched QB at halftime. Sark is too loyal to Quinn.

Saban would have done it a while back. Sark is too wrapped up in his qb guru rep to admit he can’t fix a perfect recruit.
