This part caught my eye. Fuck Nick Saban.

NOBODY KNEW WHERE Arch Manning wanted to go to school. Some in the family preferred Georgia, where head coach Kirby Smart would coach him hard. Others, Alabama. The problem for Alabama was that Nick Saban -- whom the Crimson Tide assistants affectionally called "Daddy" -- was getting up there in years, and nobody knew how long he'd be there. Texas kept lingering. Competition was so fierce that everything was fair game. It was public record that Steve Sarkisian had battled alcoholism, a disease that nearly cost him his career. Sark had rebuilt his life and work in recovery. But during one Zoom call with Arch, Golding was discussing Alabama's schematics and culture, and then he went there.

"I love Sark," Golding said. "He's my best friend." He paused. "I hope he can stay sober."

After the Zoom ended, Stewart called Golding. "Pete, that's f---ed up!"

Golding knew. He had no choice.

"Daddy's on me."

lol pathetic

They went from being the biggest bagmen in town to pure desperation and scoundrel shit.

Thank God the NCAA had to stop pretending that players were armatures that couldn't get paid. Having cheating schools the only ones allowed to pay players was pure bullshit.

I remember feeling pretty confident going into that USC game. We had some great playmakers and they made some great plays...

yet there we were, a few minutes left with USC at our 35 or so and we needed to stop the repeat Nat'l Champs on 4th and 1. Fourth and fuckin' one! WTF.

The Horns manned up, made some critical plays in that final drive and pulled it out. Greatest game ever! and the underdog Horns won it with the world watching!

Ole Miss defensive coordinator Pete Golding signed a 3-year contract extension back in February that will make him the highest-paid assistant in the SEC this season, according to documents obtained by the Jackson Clarion-Ledger.

Golding will earn $2.55 million for the 2025 campaign, a $300,000 raise from his 2024 salary. LSU defensive coordinator Blake Baker previously held the mark of the SEC's highest-paid assistant after signing a 3-year deal with a flat $2.5 million salary in January 2024.

Golding's base salary will bump to $2.6 million in 2026 and $2.7 million in 2027 before the contract expires on Jan. 31, 2028. He'll still have a ways to go to catch Penn State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles, who signed a 3-year contract this winter worth $3.1 million per year. In addition to Baker, Golding also leapfrogged Michigan's Wink Martindale and came in ahead of Ohio State's Matt Patricia for the second-highest paid assistant in college football. (Utah's Morgan Scalley will earn $2.6 million this year, $500,000 of which is a one-time retention bonus.)

…but now he has to call Lane Kiffin “Daddy”.

(Calling your boss “Daddy” is probably the gayest bottom thing that I have ever heard, and I know the basics of the Penn State scandal.)

Breitbart has picked up on the Manning Recruitment story (the alcoholism part).

Alabama Used Steve Sarkisian's Battle with Alcoholism to Pry Arch Manning Away from Texas

They had this:

Golding – who now serves as the defensive coordinator at Ole Miss – was apoplectic when told of Arch’s decision to go to Texas. He immediately texted Stewart, asking for an explanation. Stewart told Golding the above reasons, in addition to the fact that, given Austin’s size, it was felt that Arch wouldn’t attract as much attention as he would in a place like Tuscaloosa.

Really fucking stupid. Like the Mannings, of all people, wouldn’t have already considered that?

Exactly. Like they had zero clue about the college coaching word, reputations and backgrounds of coaches recruiting Arch.

Yeah like the posters above, I, too, get big VY vibes from Mr. Manning. And y'all know I'm probably about as big of a VY fan as there is. Arch is gonna blow some people's minds much the way VY blew our minds back then.

My 19 yo just called him 'VWhite', lol.

I sure hope he does what we expect of him, but with all the hype in recent years he’s certainly going to be a giant target for some unscrupulous asshole wanting to make a name for himself.

Yeah, no pressure, right? I certainly don't wanna heap it on him. If he's a even half a VY, then he'll be spectacular.

There was an entire conference wanting to do the same thing to VY.

Heavy lies the head.

Some concerns are good concerns.

The really crazy part, with our D he doesn't even need to be great for us to win.

But he will be and it will be glorious.

I believe he will make some great plays, great passes, miss some throws, probably fumble every now and then and will make some poor decisions….we have to be patient with him and let Sark tutor him along the way…..here’s to an overall 5* year!

Some so-called analysts are desperately trying to sound contrarian for click baits. They feel like they can't stand out by saying positive things.

That was some of the worst quarterback play we’ve seen since……I don’t know when.

He pissed down his leg the whole fucking game. I hope the cameras don't catch him from behind. He probably soiled himself.

Did not know Manning was a side-armer. Bad bad bad, unless you're under pressure.

We hadn’t seen enough of him to know what we were getting, which is why I wasn’t calling for him last year. Sark sees way more of these players than we do, obviously.

He loosened up towards the end and I have hope he will continue to get more comfortable. I can’t imagine the pressure he was under going into this game. He did hit a few outstanding throws.

That was a national embarrassment performance for the ages. I trust he has the character and people around him to grow and not let it crush him. But yikes that was bad.
