Heard one on the drive home yesterday. Got me to thinking about bands reflecting on being in a band. I could think of quite a few. I won't list them all here because it will be interesting to see what people recall. I'll just start with one of my favorites.

the rare contemporary contribution to one of these types of threads.

This thread needs more cowbell

Ha. That is actually the one I heard on the radio yesterday that got me thinking about this topic. Great cowbell song for sure.

Man, you guys missed a real obvious one. Kurt Cobain must have really hated his A&R guy. I’ll do the Sturgill Simpson cover because the lyrics pop a bit better:

Radio by Sylvan Esso does a hella job laying out the push to churn out hits.

Speaking of Nirvana, Jay and Jeff’s diss on Kurt Cobain’s professed dislike of making it big, slams, goes very hard:

Has nothing to do with the theme of the thread, but seeing your post made me think of what’s probably my favorite song.

Not sure if this counts, because this is a song about a band. More in the vein of "Top Jimmy" than "It's a long way to the top."

Pretty far from one of Duran Duran's better songs, but fits the topic. Was reminded of this by the "In Bloom" discussion above.

Another favorite of the category.

Maybe more about a solo act, but  not necessarily.

Sgt. Pepper's was a real band pretending to be a fake band singing about themselves. Does that count?

Maybe?

What do you mean maybe. It's a top three most appropriate in this thread.

Buncha kids here.  Jesus.  I just realized this album is 20 years old and a child born when I discovered the band could drive.
