January 11, 20241 yr This is such a Vic team tonight. Nothing really going right offensively but we are just tough and out working TCU.

January 11, 20241 yr This would be a 20 point lead if Jones would finish some of these bunnies. Getting great looks.
January 11, 20241 yr Our bigs have been awful tonight offensively. So many missed looks right at the basket.
January 11, 20241 yr Taylor Jones just needs to be patient. She's getting great position and looks. Finish like that.
January 11, 20241 yr Vic has the right idea in this game with no Sedona Prince. He's going big and we have TCU in foul trouble. Also, getting great looks inside. Just need Jones to start finishing now.
January 11, 20241 yr 2 minutes ago, Rickylovesweed said: Such a bullshit call. Just because Jones is bigger doesn't mean that's a foul. I remember watching Imani McGee called for everything bc she was big. I bet Lee won’t be called like that on Saturday
January 11, 20241 yr I think without Harmon we may try to play like this a lot. Just bully ball inside. We've missed a lot of bunnies tonight that we normally make (especially Jones).
January 11, 20241 yr Considering two of the four ranked Big 12 teams fell, I will take this tonight. Keep pace with Baylor and KSU. Can knock off KSU on Saturday Texas wins 72-60
January 11, 20241 yr Vic is such a great coach. He knew TCU didn't have the size inside. Just bullied them inside all night and probably should have won by 15+ if our bigs didn't miss so many bunnies.
January 11, 20241 yr Prince I thought looked awful against Baylor. Very tall but not very good. Might have given us trouble, though, so I'm glad we dodged her in a grinder of a game.

January 12, 20241 yr We were shaky at home vs TCU with a first year head coach and missing their best inside player so I'm not optimistic versus a very good KState squad at their house. Give me hope.

I.e. a lot of good shooting/scoring guards. With no Harmon, our issue is now perimeter defense.

We have had issues closing out shooters so not surprised they started to torch us in the 2nd half.
January 13, 20241 yr The top 4 Big 12 teams play each other today so we should see some interesting shakeup in the standings. If Texas and Baylor wins, all 4 teams will be 4-1 Baylor @ ISU Texas @ KSU Ok State and OU can also go to 4-1 with wins today. Top of the league looks strong early
January 13, 20241 yr Excerpts from KXAN article: Head coach Vic Schaefer understands it’s a tall order to go into K-State’s house and beat them, especially with how they defend. The Wildcats (16-1, 4-0) are second in the country in field goal percentage defense, allowing teams to shoot 31.5% from the field on average. And they’re fifth in the country in scoring defense, allowing just over 51 points per game. Anchored by 6-foot-6 center Ayoka Lee in the paint, the Wildcats’ defense is stout. “It’s pretty scary going into Manhattan to play against a team like that,” Schaefer said. “They’ve to great chemistry on that end of the floor, and they’ve got the aircraft carrier inside. If you get off the bounce, there’s 6-foot-6 waiting for you, ready to throw it in the fifth row.” To complement their tough interior defense, the Wildcats are also No. 2 in the country in 3-point shooting percentage defense, allowing teams to shoot a measly 22.1% from long distance. Schaefer said his team has to “have a plan” when attempting to put the ball in the bucket because the opportunities won’t come as often as they typically do. Earlier in the season, the Wildcats topped Iowa 65-58 and “held” star guard Caitlin Clark to 24 points. Clark shot 9 for 32 including 2 for 16 from 3-point range. At the time, the Hawkeyes were ranked No. 2 in the country. From a size perspective, the Longhorns don’t have anyone who can match up with Lee, so running the offense while she’s on the floor will look slightly different. Senior guard Shay Holle said it’s going to take a team effort to slow Lee down. “We’ve been focusing on ball pressure a lot in practice, and we’ve got to have help-side defense,” she said. “One person won’t be able to handle all of that, so it’ll be a team effort for sure.” https://www.kxan.com/sports/no-10-texas-faces-toughest-defense-of-the-season-against-no-12-kansas-state/
January 13, 20241 yr This big lineup is giving K-State issues on the boards. They can't keep Taylor and Moore off the boards.
January 13, 20241 yr 12 minutes ago, Js1 said: Sloppy. Not taking care of the ball. 2 fouls already 7-0 KSU Fortunately we responded quickly. Could have been a repeat of the Baylor game otherwise. 12-12
January 13, 20241 yr Keep getting the ball inside. Lee is big but they're small and soft at the other positions. Muhammad, Moore, and Holle were bullying them in the paint.
January 13, 20241 yr Just now, Rickylovesweed said: Wish we would have played Baylor at a different time. 1st game without Harmon. Yeah, even Vic said he was shell shocked. Team tired so hard, but was so rattled by it We will need to revenge the loss in Waco. For Rori!
