Okay, Booker is special

Was 26-13 and now 45-16 with the second unit on the floor. Rori can finally sit and get some rest in games

It’s Midwestern State, MWSU.

My bad. Some overmatched directional school. Good tuneup

This team is deep as hell.

Less worried about Rori's minutes after watching Maul run the point and Booker distributing the ball.

Easy opponent but what was really impressive was with Moore, Gaston, Rori and Shaylee all on the bench the team was still running smooth and scoring at will.

Maul, Booker, Shay, Shaylee and Jak hitting a few from the outside which is a good sign, but reports of Rori "brick" Harmon fixing her shot may be a bit of an overstatement.

Fun to watch the new team finally, going to be a great year.

We saw this last night. Booker had 7 assists. She can really play and I see why some thought she was a top 5 player in her recruiting class.

Andrea Lloyd kept raving about her on the broadcast. Could be one of the most special players to come through Austin in a looong time. Can basically play anywhere at the 1-4, even in the same possession.

Jak will be difficult to keep off the court. She was already one of our best defenders and rebounders last year as a FR. She went 8/10 from the field last night.

If Jak developed any offensive game, I bet she gets starter minutes. She's also the perfect 3 or 4 in Vic's pressing system because of her athleticism and length.

Celeste Taylor is playing on TruTV now - #7 Ohio State and #21 USC in Vegas

Freshman phenom JuJu Watkins for USC. We scrimmaged this USC team

Notre Dame taking a curb stomping in Paris against SC. 30 point game with 8 min left. Freshman PG for ND (with Miles out) looks super good

How did that go?

I never saw anything about it after someone tweeted we were scrimmaging them

South Carolina drilled ND 100-71 in Paris.  Freshman PG Hannah Hidalgo for ND was sensational - 10-24 (3-6).for 31 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists in her first collegiate game.

#21 USC upset #7 Ohio State 83-74, in Vegas. Celeste was 1-8 (1-5) for 7 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists.

JuJu Watkins is the truth - 11-18 (1-2) for 32 points, 6 boards, 5 assists.

When does Kim start her residency at Circus Circus?

Defending champs and super team LSU start the season 0-1 after losing to #20 Colorado

Skeletor and her super team lost their home opener to Colorado. lmao

Not a home opener. Was played in Vegas

That LSU game went about what was sort of expected.  They're #1 by virtue of being the defending champs, but they're not #1.

  • Van Lith, having to run the offense at LSU, had 7 assists and 4 turnovers.  Kayla Poole came off the bench and turned it over 5 times to only 2 assists.  LSU has a Texas-sized PG problem from last year - HVL cannot play 40 mpg every game and hold up to an entire season, especially in the SEC.
  • Morrow found out life away from DePaul is not the same - DePaul's offense is mostly 3s, so the paint is usually wide open for her to play one on one, which is where she shined.  That isn't the case at LSU with Reese also playing inside - Morrow went 2-9 in her LSU debut.
  • Angel Reese can't do it on her own - 15 points, 12 rebounds, but only played 30 minutes because she was in foul trouble
  • Holy hell, LSU did not play any form of defense. CU shots 53.2% and hit 10-23 from BTA. And that was mostly Frida Formann (7-11).  LSU will get eaten up by teams with interior presence - Vonleh went 11-15.  Jayln Sherrod went to the line 12 times.
  • LSU has two options - they can go small and quick, but they get eaten up in the paint, or bring in Del Rosario to guard the paint, but then they're big and slow and get eaten up by quicker guards or forcing ADR to defend out to the 3 point line.

#7 Ohio State also lost in Vegas to USC (who is also ranked).

If we take care of business, the UConn game will be a top 10 matchup

Other than South Florida and ASU, our schedule is pretty laughable until UConn comes to town, so if we win those in the USVI, we should be top 10 or close to it.

ASU was 8-20 last year and opened with a win over Aston's UTSA squad, 77-50.
USF was 27-7 last year, with a 5 point win over Texas in Rori's return from her toe injury, and opened with a 76-61 win over UTA

Two five stars and a four star from all over the country. Nice. That’s a solid class!

ESPN has them all in the top 43, with 2 in the top 10 (7, 8, 43).  Prospects Nation has them all in the top 54, with 2 in the top 15 (4, 15, 54).

Likely in contention for a top 3 class. Half the top 10 in ESPN is still undecided.

That's a hell of a haul.

Vic doing work recruiting, what a fantastic hire. With all the talent he's bringing in we should be a major player for a long time.

Now just get that under-the-radar girl Aaliyah Chavez for 2025....

Totally under the radar #1 recruit for 2025 😆

But yes, priority #1

FT shooting is UGLY

Feels like both basketball teams might be underrated. This was an Elite 8 caliber team last year if healthy and they return almost everyone with the addition of a top 10 recruit.

Correct.

Got Harmon some rest again. When Rori is out, Booker keeps the team running smooth. Maul looks like she can really contribute this year as well

We do look like we are attempting to play faster. But it is leading to some sloppy turnovers

My hot take is Muhammad will win Big 12 POY over Harmon if she gets 30+ minutes a night.

Muhammad was already one of our top defenders and rebounders last year as a FR and players get better under Vic. She's going to give you 10+ boards a night with 3 or 4 steals. If she's able to give you 12 to 16 points a night then I think she will be right in the mix.

I was watching this team, thinking it’s unbelievably deep, and then I realized Gaston and Moore are still on the bench.

The team has much more depth this year.  Big plus.

Only saw a fair amount of the third, but from that and a perusal of the final stats it appears that the best offense was offensive rebounds and putbacks by muhammed and Jones.

need to make some more shots as they get into the swing of the season and can’t just dominate inside because they are bigger.

This is also why players shouldn't be afraid to shoot from 3 when teams go zone.

Zone defense is vulnerable to offensive rebounds like it was tonight. Take open shots and misses will often lead to rebounds.

Nice comments about new signees  🤘

This is Great... 🤘

Shaylee, Rori, Madison, Gisella, Shay - we can finally put more than just 1 or 2 capable shooters on the floor to try and hit from deep.  Granted, not the best night last night from most of them from deep, but 22 offensive boards.   Maul in particular - 3-5 from deep!

We actually only had 11 turnovers.  It felt like far more.  But encouraging - yes, it was Southern, but only 28 minutes for Rori. If we can keep her in a sweet 28-33 mpg type of season, she will be far more effective by the time we hit March.
