I love that they cut off the stupid announcer who was trying to manufacture some sort of drama and just quickly said it's a touchdown.

After watching football all day, I hate the new clock rules.   Yes please more commercials that is what we want.

Yeah, we get fewer plays and the games run just as long.

Kinda cool of the higher ups to get Rutgers and northwestern on national TV out of the way on a Sunday, week 1

Nobody was going to watch either of these teams during the year and May as well get some ratings with no other games on

Woo that RB demolished the linebacker blitzing on 3rd down.  Slammed his ass to the ground

Northwestern runs the fake punt. They completed the pass to an open receiver. He didn’t run far enough. Turnover on downs.

Pick! Rutgers ball at around the NU 30, leading 17-0 with 1:16 left in the half.

Aargh! Stick the ball out to get the first down!

They gave it to him. Now they’re reviewing it. I don’t think he got it.

It's amazing to me that they changed timing rules so that games will go more quickly, but did zero to the replay format.

Another pick by Rutgers. Their D has really stifled the Cats today.

NW likely will be the worst FBS team this year.

With 2:45 left, Rutgers muffs a punt and Northwestern recovers. They have the hall at the RU 45. Can they take advantage and avoid the shutout? I’m not betting on it.

They went 1-11 last year. I figured they might be improved this year. The whole hazing scandal and Fitz getting fired have really hurt. But I don’t know if they’d be any better if all of that hadn’t happened. It’s too bad because they’re just a few years removed from winning the B1G West. Granted, that was the COVID year, but still. Everything that Fitzgerald had built, they’ve been pouring money into the program with a new practice facility and plans for a new stadium. It’s a real shame that they find themselves in this mess.

Is the Rutgers D that good or does NW suck that bad?

Yes.

TD Cats!

Rutgers wins 24-7. I imagine Schiano isn’t happy that they blew the shutout.

Next up, Oregon State at San Jose State. Go Spartans!

Let's get on with Oregon St (-14) at San Jose St.

I'm trying to find it, but apparently streaming only.  Is this the new PPV?

Pretty sure it's on CBS.

Must be regional.

Where are you, Mars?

It must be a guide error. "Local Programming" apparently means football.

Local industrial parks being like, 'Damn, that SJSU stadium is fine.'

Guess the scarlet knight fans satisfied with the outcome left early for a run to the jersey shore one last time for the season.

There was more of a crowd early but the stadium was never full even though the announcers said in terms of ticket sales it was a sellout. I doubt many Northwestern fans made the trip.

“Empty set again here for San Jose State, trying to spread out the Beavers as much as they can.”

Lower bowl looked pretty full, I believe I noticed the mass exodus sometime in the 3Q.

You in Bandera?

New MWC commissioner Gloria Nevarez being interviewed in the booth. She gave some vague non-answers without really saying anything concrete about the prospects OSU and WSU joining the Mountain West. They’re open to things and they can have those discussions and blah blah blah. Turns out the MWC turns 25 this year, so that was news.

TD OSU.

they didn't care about the time of the game.  They only cared about reducing the number of plays and increasing the opportunities for commercials.  replay gives you more commercials.
