If I am an unscrupulous Republican state senator (redundant), I'm looking toward the Defend Texas Liberty PAC for an immediate handout.  I don't need Dan Patrick bribe money, but I want mine.  I'll be interested to see how their money is used in the following weeks.

That's not true.  There was definitely a vote.  It was $3 million to zero.  The vote took place in Dan Patrick's bank account.  It was not interfered with by any italian satellites or china with bambo

I agree. Especially since the statements would be used against him in real criminal proceedings.

Not that I expect any reports from her, but my ex-wife is participating in the impeachment trial and is there for the duration.

#108

it's pissing me off that his lawyer is allowed to editorialize in giving his not guilty pleas. Ok so Rusty just got him for it -- good.\

It was getting very close to saying "everything that [guy] just said is bullshit"

#109

Lol. Buzbee knocked back for making statements when entering the plea.

"This accusation is outrageous, egregious, pugnacious. It's simply an affront to my sensibilities. Not guilty."

Too late to add Paxton's attorney to the Most Punchable Faces, 2023 edition?

"That is entirely incorrect, so the AG pleads NOT GUILTY."

They needed a grueling break from their theatrical swearing-in and completely pointless votes on myriad charges and removals.

To put it into football terms, the team came out of the tunnel, said a prayer in the endzone, walked over their own side(line) and called a timeout.

Yes.  Currently they're playing Red Rover.

And Dan Patrick just took a clothesline to the Fupa by two of the shorter Senators.

Not really surprised that we likely won't hear Paxton testify.  I don't know the in's and out's of the impeachment proceeding, but I thought it might be enough of a quasi-criminal proceeding that he could not be compelled to the witness stand, and at the very least even if he could he would plead the Fifth most of the time citing pending criminal investigations.

the ins and outs, whatever Patrick wants to make up

Oh, and I think it was also the wrong fucking call.  Impeachment is an inherently political process.  They can call Paxton to testify.  He can refuse to answer questions, and invoke the 5th.  But fuck this shit of him sitting on the fucking sidelines.  He wants to keep his office, held in trust for and on behalf of the motherfucking people of fucking Texas, he can take the stand or he can GTFO of my goddamned government.  Entitled cocksucking motherfucker.

Isn't there a difference between being "compelled" to testify and called?

I wonder where Paxton will be taking his lunch this week and next near the Capitol?  Asking for some friends.

#133

One-eyed Pecker had a previously scheduled appointment to bang some whores.  Allegedly.

#138

Murr giving opening statement, outlining the corruption and crimes that Paxton is guilty of. Hearing it all said out loud on the floor of the Senate by a Republican feels pretty good tbh.

Phony uber account? Check

Burner phones? Check

Secret messaging apps for communications between Paxton and Paul? Check

I can't wait to see the evidence.

Murr is going to yield back a big chunk of their 60 minutes of opening remarks, preferring to use it for witness testimony.

Buzbee's argument sounds very Trumpian to me. Everything is rigged against us, none of it is true. It's all lies, and we couldn't respond due to the gag order.

#146

So Buzbee's approach is apparently "if you impeach the AG then it will open the floodgates to ALL Texas politicians for impeachment going forward." Huh.

HEB cake reference! Drink!

#147

Buzbee - It's all just a kangaroo court!  We can't get a fair shake in this room full of Republicans!
