September 18, 20232 yr I love this shit. It can be a slow grind at times, but it's one of the few shows that has legitimate character development. The characters evolve, but stay true to their roots. Through four seasons, this show delivers. Mixing fiction with real life people....Flint, Silver, Billy Bones, Eleanor, the insanely hot Max
September 18, 20232 yr I watched it about 4 years ago. I fully agree. It's like Deadwood of the Carribean.
September 20, 20232 yr Should have been on HBO not Starz, the production values might have been different. Superbly written and acted. Toby Stephens should have won something.
September 20, 20232 yr Ray Stevenson put in another great performance as Blackbeard. We lost him way too soon.
September 5, 20241 yr necro bump... just now watching this. it's amazing. only in season 2. it's on netflix.

Just seemed like a mess. that's fair, I actually couldn't latch on to some other wildly popular dramas that Black Sails is compared to, for one reason or another. I love pirate narratives though like I love a good western. extremely hard to beat imo if done right, but exceedingly rare compared to the rest of what is produced. January 24Jan 24 Just getting around to watching this. About 10 episodes in. Enjoying it. Seems about on the level of Sons of Anarchy. The production values are ok, but a clear step down from something like Game of Thrones. It would have been amazing on HBO.
January 25Jan 25 Just finished this recently as well. Now I need to get around to reading Treasure Island.
