I have to confess that I don't remember Champions I, but this looks like a fun little six episode mini-season.

Starts this Thursday.

Fuck yeah.  The first champions was good shit.  The slugfest brackets generally had the above avg bots battling it out (there were a few poseurs in there, but not many).  Bring on the destruction.

Yeah, our family did really poorly on our picks.

Good for that guy. He's a little much sometimes, but I do appreciate that he has a completely different background than almost every other team captain and participant.

I'm digging this format as a proving ground for new teams and build types to get tested at heavyweight scale! Shreddit Bro has been a monster at the beetleweight and mid divisions, so it's cool to see a team make the jump up

And WOW I think this was the first time I've ever seen Beta to real damage with its hammer!

Another great week of fights - some up-and-coming bots are starting to gel and it's cool to watch teams gain more confidence

I was a bit underwhelmed by the quality of the contestants in the last two weeks.  There were a few actually decent fights, but a lot of boring cripple fights too.  It looks like they saved the best for last though as this Thursday's bracket features a lot of quality bots.  I expect to see some high impact carnage.

Mladnic (SP?) should learn how to drive Cobalt in a training arena, not a Battlebots competition.  Watching him struggle to control the bot was painful and frustrating.  I thought Battlebots was supposed to punish bots for playing the Hydra strategy of just sitting in the middle and turning to maintain a face on their opponent.

Cobolt is one seriously tough bot - if they could get a better driver theyd be one hell of a contender. It was crazy to see it still landing big hits while a minute into it's own viking funeral

Yeah, there's got to be some kind of behind the scenes beef or something within the Cobalt team right now.

The finale was quite entertaining.  It's a shame that Riperoni performed an epic fail face plant.  We laughed a lot at the end of the Sawblaze v Tantrum fight.  That stoic giant on team Sawblaze cracks us up the way he tries to steal your soul when looking around. The final battle was great too.  I was personally rooting for the bot that lost, but there was no question about the judges' desicion IMO.

It was great to see Jackpot have a good showing too, they've been building year over year and just couldn't kick their gremlins

I like how team Jackpot actually made a nuisance bot that is effective and can affect a fight.

We got behind and just finished last night.

The Ripperoni/Hypershock match (penultimate episode) where they were both crippled and trying their best to get into each other's orbit was pretty entertaining.

This was a fun "mid-season" format for a tournament.
