He’s not all that relevant to draft considerations or projecting if a WR can become a #1 target down the road. I'm late here, but I bet KC goes WR twice early in the draft, whether that's 1st and 3rd, or 2nd and 3rd, or whatever They need to inject more young cheap talent. They're going to have to spend cap to keep other positions in tact, and won't be able to spend on WR

I doubt Sweat goes that high, because Davis was overdrafted at 13. Sweat has a good chance to sneak into the first round IMO. His film this year was absolutely elite despite not being a huge pass rusher. He’s kind of like the defensive version of an elite Guard or Center. His position caps his value, but you know you’re getting a great player. The Ravens took Tyler Lindenbaum 25th a couple years ago. I could see something similar to that for Sweat. Starting at 25, the Packers, Bills, Lions, Ravens, and Chiefs could all be potential landing spots for him. Edited February 13, 20241 yr by Burt Macklin

Sweat will measure a few inches shorter than Davis did (6’6, 341), but the biggest difference will be their overall athleticism testing. Davis ran a 4.78 40 and broad jumped 10’3 (the former is rare air, while the latter was a record for a player over 300 pounds). Those two items are why he was drafted 13th - athletic potential. However, I think Sweat is a better player and agree he’s more disruptive.
February 13, 20241 yr I just don't see that high of value for Dallas Turner... seems like he'll be a real bust in NFLHe won't last long if he insists on driving NFL QB's into the turf, but he still has value.

Why in the fuck does anyone care about a 40 time for a DT? Jordan Davis was always given credit for shit he "could" do versus necessarily doing it. It's absurd to me that Sweat could go as many as 50 picks behind him when Sweat has fine measurables and tape to match belief in his upside. I talked to a friend who was dealing with Senior Bowl related scouting stuff and he said that the buzz going into the week regarding the DTs was seeing them against "better" IOL than Big 12 IOL. I said that was fucking stupid. Go watch the Bama tape. Dallas Turner, who @Fud will defend as though he's related, is the prototypical NFL bust. The guy has a clear on/off switch that he can flip whenever he likes to do so. Typically, he only likes to flip it on when money is on the line or when he gets to go up against the sisters of the poor and their teams. He lit up a few shitty teams late his freshman season. He got overhyped heading into his sophomore season and did absolutely nothing and took the year off. Then his JR year, he shit all himself against Texas, moped, and then played up in a few games with a lot of eyeballs on them and money on the line. What that piece of shit excelled at was hammering QBs deliberately into the turf. He's as dirty as they come out of college, ranking alongside the likes of Vontez Burfict. The guy managed to end games, parts of seasons or seasons for no less than 4 QBs while at Bama, exhibiting the same behavior each time - late hits attempting to pin the helpless QB's shoulder into the turf. I continue to root for him to have a brutal career-ending injury.

February 14, 20241 yr Latest ESPN mock draft (from Field Yates) has Murphy going #13 to the Raiders and Mitchell going to the Chefs at #32. Biggest discussion point for now on the draft is what decision the Bears make at #1 - do they stick with Fields and trade down or launch him and take Williams? Another mock I saw had a pick that I actually liked even though I'm on the record as not liking him as a first round prospect - McCarthy to the Rams at #19. If you like McCarthy's potential then this is the ideal spot for him as he gets to back up Stafford for a couple of years while developing (which he needs). Would be a page out of the Packers' playbook.

As we get closer they'll probably try to muddy the waters, but it should be a shock of they don't take him. The question is what kind of draft haul are they getting for Fields? Probably something like a 2nd and a 4th The Rams are drafting their first 1st round pick since 2016. I think they'll take an immediate impact guy rather than a backup QB.

I'd even argue that, although Sweat isn't quite the pass rushing threat that Davis was perceived to be based on athletic profile, his ability to take on double teams and push the pocket back on any given play increases the ability of the pass rushers around him. Both Sweat and Murphy boost a line's ability to do this more effectively.

February 19, 20241 yr Glad to see Murphy get rewarded. He has been a hard working force from day one.
February 20, 20241 yr I'll throw my Mock 2.0 in here for y'all to pick apart...note there are several projected trades. Mostly by the Bears trading back to accumulate picks. I have the Steelers trading the No. 22 pick for Justin Fields. I also think Denver could trade up to get Bo Nix. I'm not a huge Nix fan, but he seems like a perfect fit for Sean Payton's system. I also have Carolina trading back into the 1st round to pick a CB, and the Bears using some of their draft stockpile to take the Panthers' pick to take JJ McCarthy. I see the 1st being WR heavy since it's a QB/WR league. The reason Drake Maye is #1 is because I think he's a better fit for Atlanta's new OC.

No way Quinton Mitchell from Toledo lasts until the 2nd round, especially after the numbers he’s going to put up at the combine…
