If the West breaks it, we buy it. It becomes our responsibility to restore order once we topple their government. We have to help them have a peaceful environment so that they can then determine their future. A democratic, secular government doesn't just spring forth from a mound of rubble. It requires quite a bit of tending to, as we are now seeing here back home ourselves.

Same as Palestine. The ground conditions in both Gaza and the West Bank have never been in place to allow them their own self-determination. Rather, we, the West, have been complicit in supporting an occupying power that willfully denies them the same, and many on this board have been quite vocal in saying that the Palestinian people are incapable of doing so.

Oh I do get it! They are not capable of creating their own peaceful environment. They are not capable of creating their own road map to a their new government structure. We have to create said road map because as newly freed people they won't be able to do so.

And of course, also Palestinian will no longer have their power backing so...

Bibi has been saying this, more or less, for the past decade and a half and yet, Iran has never completed the puzzle. Yes, we need Iran back at the table to talk about denuclearization but using the argument that "they're almost there, we think, but it's ambiguous" to bomb Tehran is disingenuous at best.

Creating chaos, uncertainty, and portraying a bigger enemy to world is a great way to shift focus from the mass genocide that is happening.  So instead the world has shifted their focus to Iran and not talking about the war crimes being committed.  Also, can someone answer how long Iran has had uranium in that facility?  Did they get this uranium last week?  Has the world known about this bunker?  If so, for how long?  Judging by the fact that they can't seem to do much of any damage against Israel with their current shitty weapons, I'm not sure that they can develop a nuke or be able to even launch one.   With everything said, if they are close to having a nuclear weapon, the yes... actions need to be taken to prevent that from happening.  I still have not seen any evidence put out there from the news that they are close to having a nuclear weapon.  And until I see this evidence, this is Bibi shifting attention from the below:

Spoiler
As of late May 2025, reports indicate that the number of confirmed dead children in Gaza from the conflict since October 7, 2023, is at least 16,500, according to the Hamas-run Ministry of Health in Gaza.
It's important to note:
  • Varying figures: Other sources offer similar high numbers, with Al Jazeera reporting at least 17,400 killed children since October 7, 2023, including 15,600 identified.
  • Thousands more missing: Many thousands more children are reportedly missing under the rubble and are largely presumed dead.
  • Traumatic impact: The surviving children have experienced severe trauma, with many enduring multiple wars.
  • Highest number of child amputees per capita: 25,000 children in Gaza have been injured, resulting in the highest number of child amputees per capita globally.
  • Thousands of children identified by name: The Ministry of Health in Gaza has released lists of the names of the children who have been killed.
  • A "graveyard for thousands of children": The United Nations has described the Gaza Strip as a "graveyard for thousands of children".

Two points:

(1) you need to see Iran inflict damage on Israel before you *authorize* Israel to act against a regime that funded Hamas to committ atrocities like Oct 7th, has funded groups that has literally sent tens of thousands of rockets to Israel, and openly advocates for their complete destruction?

(2) the arrogance of some random internet poster stating you need evidence before being okay with something (that you know nothing about) is fucking hysterical.

1.  Well, there is a side here for sure completing mass destruction.  But that is okay you see.

2.  You're right!  We should have totally invaded Iraq for those WMDs.  Who needs evidence?  Fuck all those American troops that died right?

Personally, I think I'd get rid of aggy first. I have tons more friends who went to OU than aggy. They are much more normal people. As long as they're not led by Switzer or somebody like Stoops, who Mack couldn't consistently beat, I got no real beef with the Sooners. I guess it's fun to laugh at aggy but if we're cutting one of Iran, OU or aggy, I think I'm taking aggy out.

OU is only annoying when they are good.  aggy is annoying 24/7/365.

As it pertains to Iran, for what, exactly, does Israel need to be held accountable?

Do you just read what you want to read?  Where did I state Israel needs to be held accountable for Iran?  I've made multiple posts stating they need to be held responsible for their actions with Gaza.  I've also stated that the US does not need to risk lives or waste tax payer dollars to back this conflict between Iran and Israel.

You can't strike another country unless that country is about to attack you first. Iran was not going to attack Israel, so as much as there are valid criticisms one could have about Iran, Israel's attack on Iran violated international law.

Iran launched ballistic missiles at Israel in April and October of 2024.  Or is there like a 3 month return fire limitation and then its like it didn't happen?

Yeah, the US would be happy to have a free, secular, and stable Iran. But you run into a similar thing to the debaathification problem in that any semblance of civil society or technocratic ability has been concentrated in the clerical-military repression apparatus. There’s no bench or shadow opposition to step in and do it.

The President of the United States is tweeting like a teenager in matters of international conflict involving nuclear armament. India's PM also had to fact check him in real time today when he lied about solving their recent scuffle with Pakistan. But let's not comment on any of it because CLOAK ROOM! How fucking pathetic.

Expect a strongly worded post from Rexy Snowflake anytime now.

A point I made earlier. Reminds me of the Iraq invasion. Buddy with the 3ID called me one night said we are going in. I said wait to see the UN resolution. His replies "you don't move this much shit for nothing."

Yeah, he was right. I was optimistic.

I would normally agree to that, but we already saw the comments being sent out to various people and organizations in support of it, and Ted Cruz and Lindsey Graham are out in public making the case to attack Iran (along with other Republicans who are making the rounds).

I don’t think those things happen in a vacuum.

I hope I’m wrong but this is feeling like Iraq in late 2002/early 2003.  The fact that Israel cleared a lot of pieces off the board is probably making some people a little more eager than they might have been.

Yeah, friends told me months in advance that we were going to go into Iraq because of how much was being moved and prepared.

I think the biggest tell is Republican legislators hitting up the circuit and making the case. They are not spontaneously doing that on their own.

Seems like there's some last-ditch shuttle diplomacy going on involving Iran, Oman. Egypt, and China. Probably too late but worth keeping an eye on what, if anything, comes out of this meeting that Iran has denied attending.

These are all posts from the AP's updates in chronological order, starting early this morning.

It seems wildly optimistic that we'd sustain follow through aid for even 6 weeks.

I stated much earlier let the Arab states provide the aid. The international red Crescent for instance. It cannot be US. We just open the port.

Love it or hate it, no one does logistics better than the DOD. We could have the airports operational in 24 hours, contract all the local trucking companies. It would take the UN and NATO a few months of meetings to decide who was in charge of what and the missions official language.

Make Jebel Ali Airport as the air hub. Right near it is the UN and US assistance warehouses. There is a lot of medicine and food in there. The scenario it was designed for is a tent city for 100K and provision of food, cooking fuel (including small stoves) and water purification units. Iran is not that bad (yet).

We open, they provide, Iranians move at the Regional level.
