November 25, 20232 yr Man. Sark 11-1. Jaydon Blue with 120 yards last night. Bert setting school record for consecutive field goals. What have you not been wrong about this season @closetojumping take the loss, pussy

November 26, 20232 yr I love coming back to this thread. Surly needs a Classics forum IMO and this should be the first inductee.

December 2, 20232 yr Popular Post I've always liked Sark personally. As someone in recovery myself, I pull for him on multiple levels. But, I also had my doubts last year, as we blew a pair of 14-point leads. I criticized him, and I still believe it was warranted at the time. But he's really growing into this job, and fast. And what I saw today, when he had the presence of mind to get Brooks on the field as we were winning the conference? Man, that's my coach. I hope he's winning games here for a very long time. December 2, 20232 yr I’m out. He lost me when he didn’t call timeout to avoid the late 2Q delay penalty. Unforgivable.
December 2, 20232 yr I loved the Brooks move. I loved the Sweat TD even more... Players love playing for this man...

Sark is honestly an inspiration. Im so proud he's the hc at Texas.
December 3, 20232 yr It was funny last year when people suggested he was a bad coach and we needed someone like Sonny Dykes or Jeff Traylor or some high school coach from Houston. Now it's hysterical.
December 3, 20232 yr Good thing some of the loudest fucks on this site don’t get to make coaching decisions half way through a new coaches first season.
December 3, 20232 yr I'm not sure how to react to a coach I like who wins 12 games.. It's been some time.

After clicking around, it looks like things held together here somewhat nicely. That considered, now I'm worried about things here in the opposite direction. The general optimism towards the rest of the season across numerous threads creates the impression that a whole herd of you guys aren't prepared for what's actually going to unfold. That could lead to utter catastrophe when the inevitable happens, leading to numerous psychotic breaks for stunned denizens of this board and I'd hate to see it/hear about it. The reality is, Steve Sarklostagain still hasn't done a fucking thing in his career to merit receiving the benefit of the doubt from the fanbase and posters on this board. He's never won more than 9 games, he's been outcoached on numerous occasions, and he's a born loser at heart, reflected repeatedly in a career of inexplicable losses. Seven Loss Steve's entire head coaching history reflects a penchant for winning games that surprise people and then following that soon enough with an inexplicable loss or seven. 2009 - UW plays LSU close to open the season, then pulls a wild upset of USC in week 3 before going 5-7 with headscratching losses to a failing Weis-led ND program that went 6-6 and ended up firing their fat idiot head coach to end the year and then a loss to an eventual 4-8 ASU team that lost all 5 games they played after beating UW. "but closetojumping, UW was 0-11 in 2008! he can't be dinged for the turnaround in that season!" - wait, there's more. 2010 - After upsetting 18th ranked USC on the road in the Colesseum, Seven Win turns around the next week at home and shits the bed against an ASU that had lost 3 straight and went 6-6. 2011 - No real surprising wins this season, but ol'Seven Loss did find a way to climb into the dumpster and light his team on fire by losing to an Oregon State that was 2-8 at the time and finished 3-9. 2012 - a 3rd straight 7 win season. Steve Sarkloseian took some early losses against good teams and brought his team roaring back to a 7-4 record and 4 game winning streak before bending his Washington team over and letting a 3-9 Washington State team just buttfuck it into oblivion in the annual rivalry game. He had some big time "we're back!" wins this season, beating #7 Stanford and #Oregon State. 2013 - Finally, a retooled roster with all of Seven Loss' own players! UW marches out to a 4-0 record before getting buzzsawed by the #5 and then #2 teams in the country, the latter in blowout fashion. Not the end of the world. Then, they headed to Tempe, still ranked, and were beaten by 4 touchdowns via a Todd Graham-led ASU team on no one's radar. At 8-4, and showing an obvious trajectory towards titles, USC calls Seven Win Steve home! 2014 - Seven Win's best year to date, he takes a USC team, ranked 15th to open the year, and they finish ranked #20 with underdog wins against two ranked opponents while also inexplicably losing a slap fight to a Boston College team that would finish 7-6. 2015 - Uneven Steven had USC open at #8 and then plummet out of the top 25 at 3-2 when he was seen visibly drunk on the sidelines during a loss to an unranked UW team and eventually fired for repeating the behavior the following week at practices. 2021 - No valued win in this 5-7 season of rebuilding! a 7-3 roster, but Texas did have standout losses to eventual 7-6 Iowa State, 2-10 Kansas, and 6-7 West Virginia. 2022 - We can argue about Texas Tech but Texas should have won that fucking game. Seven Win Steve freezing up with his playcalling against Tech, TCU, and Okie State played critical roles in the eventual 8-5 season. 2023 - If you can't find the next headscratching loss, you're not alone. No one else seems to be able to on this board either. I'll help you out though. It is likely going to be among one of these opponents, and will likely be at least two of them, given history: @UH BYU KSU @TCU @ISU Tech I've bolded my best bets, but it could happen with any of them. Stop talking about the playoffs or rematching against OU. Texas doesn't have the coach for that. We're staring down the barrel of a 9-3 regular season. Sarkisian has said privately that he views bowl games as prep for the next season and the outcome doesn't concern him one way or the other. I'm assuming a banner year is in order here, and we see another career high 9 win season at 9-4. You can keep all of the receipts on this that you'd like, but you're not going to need them. Have you jumped yet?

December 3, 20232 yr Crow for me. I called him a dumb jock more times than I can count. He sure hasn't been calling plays like one in a while. Mea culpa.
December 3, 20232 yr I was underwhelmed with the hire. Shared more than share of criticism, including potshots at the horrible suit he wore preceding a loss. But I’m grateful to be dunked on. I’m a Darryl Dawkins dunking on Kelly Tripucka motherfucker. Fuck yeah!

I was wrong, and I hope he continues to rub my nose in my wrongness.
December 3, 20232 yr The criticism is one thing but it’s the absolutes that were baffling. Sark should have won more right away because a good coach would with the talent herman gave him. Hurr durr. Sark can’t be the HC and OC, hurr durr. PK should be fired and sark needs to be an actual head coach, hurr durr. His evolution from day one to right now has been nothing short of fantastic. Culture, staff, recruiting, and winning…off the fuckin charts. Surly is a magical place tho and we need those critical, pragmatic douche bags (not in a mean way lol) to offset the sunshine pumpers like myself. I still think Sark has a chance to finish one day as our next Royal. Callin it now.

December 3, 20232 yr I’m here to eat a big fucking plate of crow. When we hired Sark I was like “what the fuck?” It’s a good thing I’m not the AD or anyone in charge, they appear to have hired the right guy. We have more swagger than pretty much anyone else in the country right now and we appear poised to take over college football for a long time. Today’s game was a work of art. I was happy to have Sark at the helm pretty much all day….but when he brought in Brooks for the victory snap and let Arch Manning toss him the game ball, I finally realized that we probably have the best coach in America for the next decade. This crow doesn’t taste too bad with some BBQ sauce on top. Let’s go win the fucking playoff and go on a decade of dominating college football!!
December 3, 20232 yr After we lost to ou I told y’all we would win out and avenge our loss and if you didn’t believe to “get in the MF’er”. We didn’t avenge the loss but we did when out. If we get in the playoffs I think we can win it all guys.
December 3, 20232 yr Has this worthless fuck hired an OC yet? Dumbass can't head coach and call plays.at the same time. Edited December 3, 20232 yr by hookem48
December 3, 20232 yr Popular Post I see these guys coming in to bend the knee. However, we are going to a tougher league where its going to be extremely difficult to not stumble 1 or 2 times. I don't want to see a single one of you jump right back on the bullshit as soon as we stub our toe. So keep in mind how we got here and why. 1) Quarterback play- We haven't had solid QB play since Colt. No disrespect to Sam. He is the ultimate competitor and a hell of a football player. For whatever reason quality QBs wanna play for Sark. Call it his acumen for the position, or the NFL style scheme he runs. Not only is this the first quality QB play we've had since Colt, but we also have the best QB room in the country. 2) Understanding what we need and having the ability to fill it - Sark came in, saw our line play, and immediately addressed it. He got a receiver who is the most dynamic after the catch guy in the country who had trouble tracking balls, and then went out and got the opposite. A guy who may not light you up after the catch, but is really solid with the ball in the air. He sees a hole and addresses it quickly. He doesn't just grab at "rankings". His top 5 class and Herman's top 5 class are very different. 3) Culture- So far he has gotten the guys to buy in. Team has swagger, but with a lunch pail mentality. Watching guys congratulate the next man's success on the sideline is cool. Seeing how the dudes have all their chains hanging on Brooks' neck, and he is at the forefront on the sideline, unforgotten, is awesome. It's clear Sark likes a certain type of guy. Worthy has all the makings of an asshole receiver, but is clearly working hard and bought in. At another school he could be Evan Stewart. Demeanor- Maybe this is true or not, but a long time ago someone told me people follow the demeanor of their leader. Sark, can be a flamethrower behind the scenes at times, but is largely cool and collected. Maybe that's why they don't panic in situations. Time will tell, but it seems to at least be that way right now.
