Herman's best start was in 2018. In that season, he opened with another embarrassing loss to Maryland. The guy lost his battering ram after 2020 and would have lost Thompson and Card with his playcalling by some point in the middle of 2021. I'm not real sure that dude has a better record from 2021-2023 so far than Sarkisian. Recruiting was freefalling, the portal and NIL exploded, and his own team disliked him.

On top of Maryland, he absolutely shit the bed against Oklahoma st and West Virginia.

You need to relax dude.  Maybe catch a Gay Pride event in East Austin this weekend.

  • Yes, I know I posted this in another thread, I don't give a shit, it belongs here too.   Sark shitting on Campbell during his post game presser

  • The irony is I am literally a Philosophy major, but fuck it I will bite. Your posts are writhe with over-analyzations of something you know little about-Football. You speak of coaching as if it's ches

There are many headscratcher topics for me that rear their head on this site. People getting worked up about recruiting edits, or font types, time of day in which a game is played, and on and on. That said, the incessant conversing around various fashion styles and choices and UT gear is the weirdest and one of the most boring.

That’s probably because you aren’t a cunt.

I do worry about a few things:

1. slow starts (except for Bama)

We had 13 points through our first 8 possessions against Bama, including a possession that started on the Alabama 30 due to an interception. It wasn't exactly a beautiful display of offense and it was 3-3 at the end of the first quarter. Not exactly a blazing hot start. Which is fine because it's Alabama and their defense is damn good. But just some context.

Only time we scored on our opening possession was the Kansas game, but we have scored points on our second possession in every game except OU.

The loss to Oklahoma State was inexcusable (feel like we've said that about every OSU loss the last 10 years). We were coming off a bye week, OSU was starting some dude named Taylor Cornelius at QB and both our starting corners got suspended for a quarter because they were late getting back to Austin out of the bye week and missed a meeting.

I remember thinking the same thing. Two weeks and this is the game plan? Herman was only going as far as Sam would take him.

Is that really any different than Tech and OSU last season?

Not much different imo. It’s more about Herman not being a good coach. Sark could follow the foot steps of his predecessors and fail to get over the mediocrity hump (chuckles just sucked tho). The one thing Sark has going for him is he’s not as stubborn compared to Herman. Sark understands his flaws and try’s to correct them. He’s developed a good culture. The players, important people inside and outside the program, and all the fans like him and want to see success.

I wish we had Herman as a consultant. Dude always had a good plan for the big games. He played up to his competition, but, unfortunately, he also played down. It’s like his little mensa ego could only be bothered to work hard for the Sugar Bowl or OU. “Oklahoma State this week? Let’s just run our stuff, coaches. Who wants to go Sugar’s with me and Kendra?”

He had a good plan in bowl games when you have a month to prepare. He was average otherwise. We lost to Maryland twice. Went 1-1 with USC. Went 1-4 vs OU. Lost to LSU.

Herman wasn't some late game winner either. Most coaches are actually pretty shit at clock management- Belichicek and his mentor Parcells being the best at it. Andy Reid was notoriously shitty for years and he's the 2nd most respected coach in the league.

I also dont fault the clock management so much against OU now that its processed. If we go clock milk mode too early and dont get a first down we give OU the ball back with 2 minutes or so and a tie game. We needed one more first down to ice the game and didnt get it. The sack on 2nd down fucked it up.

Given everyone thought we were stuck with him indefinitely, it was among the best ideas out there.

Even if recruiting was steady, the roster was turbofucked.  That's the first thing that Sark tried to correct.  We had the wrong numbers of guys at the wrong positions.

I’m almost a quarter century older than you, and I expect at least 20 more seasons. Do you have something to share with us?

Well all my aunts and uncles including my grandpa died before 65 so I guess I’m going off that. My grandma just died 2 months ago at 86 but she was a gangster.
Are you a smoker?

No I don’t smoke and if you were to add up all the alcohol I’ve drank this year it would probably equal a couple of cases. Just going off my families health history. Let’s go with 30 more years.

I don't agree. The fans have shown up and filled that giant stadium at huge prices this whole time Texas has struggled. We support this program at a high level. We are the reason this program makes all its money.

Now I don't know what we deserve but to say the rest of us are shitty because you suck seems unfair.

We are definitely entitled and whiny. But we have been loyal.

It’s not like people are bitching that we didn’t score enough points in the championship. Expecting a team to come in fired up to play your lone rivalry game of the year isn’t a big ask. It’s basic football.

We continue to fail at basic football. Year after year.

This is myopic dipshittery at its most basic. Every fanbase looks entitled or whiny given various results on the field or court. Fuck you for painting us as uniquely bad to make yourself feel better.

I'm just trying to help improve our glorious Longhorns...they need all the help they can get.

I don’t know if Sark is the guy but being ranked in the top 10 after a loss is far better than having your AD fly to Tulsa to beg a just a guy to be the OC, kicking off both halves, having your coach’s former boss constantly belittle him on TV, watching your coach kiss players, or watching the guy LSU settled for when we outbid them win it all.

So I am cautiously optimistic.

It's like OP is secretly rooting for Sark to fail and Texas to lose. Jesus Christ how much fucking money did you bet on us finishing with only 8 or 9 wins this season?! All that negativity is gonna bring you bad juju.

I'll say this about Sark. At least he has balls to gamble. The 4th and 5 fake punt that worked and the TD on 4th and 2. Charlie Strong and Tom Herman would have punted. Still think he should have gone for it on 4th and 4.

There’s nothing wrong with the suit. Niecy Nash’s wife wore it to the Emmy’s I think not too long after he wore it. I could care less what he wears. I do care about how he coaches. Period. But the designer of the suit is well known. Anyway, fuck what he wears. Just win out and beat OU in a rematch and I will lay off my Sark “can’t be HC and OC at same time” soapbox. That should make everyone happy 😃 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

Pure internet silliness here.

People who post on college football message boards are the tiniest fraction of a percentage of a fan base, and aren't at all representative of that fan base.

When I talk to my average Joe Texas fan friends in the real world, they are consistently: happy when Texas wins, briefly upset when Texas loses, hopeful for a positive trajectory, and completely unaware of how Sark dresses for the 0.5 mile walk into the stadium.

THAT is our fan base.

We have 1 football title in the last half century. With our history before that, our resources & other advantages, when is it okay for us to complain about not winning titles? 5 more years? Ten years? Is there a conversion chart?

Did you watch the same goal line offense that I did on Sat?

Im kidding to some extent, and to some extent I’m serious.

sark has a lot of things going for him and number 1 is he isn’t an asshole. 2 is he apparently has a vision for what it takes to build a football team. 3 is he can design a hell of an offense.

Hopefully he can build enough talent on this team to overcome any other issues.

I am not saying we shouldn't be bitching.

We shouldn't bitch when we don't like the route of our championship parade. I think it's great to bitch right now.

You haven't read the thread, clearly.

Regarding money and the outcomes, I only bet on anything when I am at a casino. I don't have a bookie and it's not important to me. I cheer for Texas to win titles in every sport, every year. Fuck you for implying anything otherwise.

It is of my opinion that we should expect championships year in and year out. Whether that be conference or national.

Expecting a Big 12 title this year is not entitled.  We have a heavily seasoned team, a very good QB and multiple weapons on offense.  We shit the bed in Dallas to a lesser talented team that showed up and put more effort into the game.  Shit happens.  Hope we win the rest and stomp the cocksuckers in the conference title game.

If you think Mack was a failed hire, I'm not sure what to tell you. He's the second-best coach at UT of all time. Now, did he largely fail at the end of his tenure in Austin and make some other critical mistakes, yes. But GTFO here with this awful take.
