Not in a bad way, you can just yell he's rolling with whatever the material and the audience gives him in response. Jost reading Ches jokes is always funny to me. Davidson is what he is and it's mediocre. Heidi Gardner .... uh yea... I took some screenshots for research purposes, and by research I mean my penis.

October 18, 20232 yr Wow. That Chad sketch* was rough. Only made it through Doctor's Orders and if you asked me who was the comedian, him or Chastain, I would have had trouble answering. Weekend Update is allegedly the highlight, but it is disappointing to me. I hate that they laugh and shake their heads at their own jokes all the time when they are 'edgy.' They have to do that to say 'I'm not the one saying this, it is just a line.' Be a comedian, man. Have a little courage. *feature length trilogy

October 18, 20232 yr Kenan has been around for 42% of the time SNL has been on the air. This would be like if John Belusi had stayed on until the mid to late 90s.
October 18, 20232 yr I would have guessed he started around 2010. I didn't realize he went from All That to SNL in just a few years.

October 19, 20232 yr Well some good news besides our redundant debate about Pete Davidson, politics, and that somewhere in a museum there's a painting of Keenan getting older. Nate Bargatze is hosting the Halloween episode on 28 October. He's one of my favorite comedians working today. How he'll translate to SNL is a huge question mark because he is not a lively performer even by standup (low) standards. Foo Fighters are the band. Massive potential, and I just jinxed it.
October 19, 20232 yr Love Bargatze. He's also does a clean act. Not that I don't enjoy a bunch of fuck jokes, but your kids can at least be in the room when watching a Bargatze special.
October 19, 20232 yr I guess I never really noticed that he doesn't swear or reference sex or drugs really. But he is absolutely fucking hilarious. One of the 5 funniest comics on the road today. Hands down. He certainly has the chops to do SNL, I'm just picturing his delivery and mannerisms and wonder how in the fuck that's gonna work in sketches. Like a Mulaney can still be physical and go big. But Nate just can't do that, he's another operating plane of comedy. Really curious to see how this goes. I only know one thing, his video (if it's not cut for airtime) with Please Don't Destroy is going to be stuff of legend.

Kids don't consume TV the way we did. It's all streaming and usually it's Tik Tok or YouTube and shit like that -- small clips/snippets of things. My daughter is a senior and I can't remember the last time she sat down and watched a show on a regular TV, streaming or otherwise. 1 hour ago, YGIFS said: I guess I never really noticed that he doesn't swear or reference sex or drugs really. There aren't really comedic superstars anymore that can carry a movie and put butts in the seats. I guess Kevin Hart is the last mainstream one, and he pretty much sucks? I think if a Will Ferrell or Adam Sandler or as far back as Mike Meyers too, was in their prime now on SNL, it wouldn't be the same as it was in the 90's and 00's to break out and become a big comedic movie star. So now you have these comedians without attractive exit opportunities except for the brightest and best and it's risky so they just stick it out and make a career at SNL? I can't remember the last stand-up comedian to even have a movie built around them. It might be Kevin Hart. I saw a recent trailer for what looked like a horrible movie about one of the Italian comedians that makes the late-night rounds from time to time. Probably in his 50's and a serious late-bloomer. Very NY/Jersey-centric humor that looked just turrible.

Give him a look, he's easy to find on youtube. It's not an "acquired taste" or anything but he's not for everybody. He's just really deadpan and drawn-out (not Steven Wright style, but you'll get the idea), so you gotta give him 10 minutes at least. If you like what you hear, do a full Netflix special (I think he has 3). Every comic I know absolutely loves him. He reminds me a lot of Louis CK before Louis became full of loathing and hate. Which I still love him for, but Nate is like the 10 years ago, gentler Louis. But he's every bit as insulting and pissed off, he just guises it so fucking well. To your second point---if you're talking about Sebastian Maniscalco? I can easily dismiss comics I don't like, but that guy is like the fucking east coast Italian Larry the Cable Guy (although he's actually from Chicago and cut his teeth in SoCal clubs, but he took on the Jersey persona for 'laughs'). He's somehow wildly popular, rich as hell, and a total fucking douchebag. His road opener is a friend of a friend of mine, Pat McGann who is fucking hilarious and grew up near where I did outside Chicago (and is friends with Nate Bargatze IRL as they share similar stylings). Everybody in comedy despises Sebastian and not just because of his success. He's just doing a stereotype caricature like Larry. There's nothing genuinely funny about it. I think McGann told me that Sebastian's wife is related to Louis J. Gomez who is a touring partner (or was) with Nate Bargatze is well. Circle of life, Simba. /rant

/rant Yeah, that's him. Never liked that guy. Glad to hear there's no reason to like him. 18 minutes ago, mchookem said: Nate Bargatze is absolutely hysterical. SNL is set to auto-record and my wife and usually catch it live but always watch the recorded version if we miss it live. I'm pretty sure she'd leave me for Colin Jost in a mili-second so Weekend Update is her favorite part. I'm certain we'll see this episode. I don't really like the Foo Fighters at all but at least it's not the usual hip-hop drivel that they've seemingly been running out there ad nauseum of late.
October 20, 20232 yr Nate Bargatze has a Dan and Jake connection. I don't remember the specs, but he's fam.

October 20, 20232 yr Yep, you spend your teens watching it with friends to feel edgy. You spend your 20’s telling anyone that you’re too busy partying and chasing ass to watch it. You spend your 30’s complaining about it. You spend your 40’s just proud of yourself for making it to 11pm after a long day of football and watch it as the wife dozes off with a cocktail. but yeah, would it kill them To have one musical guest I know a song from? I have varied tastes when it comes to music, it’s the one thing I’m not a grumpy asshole about.
October 21, 20232 yr Please Don’t Destroy needs their own show on Peacock. I think we missed out on a lot of great content from The Lonely Island. I’d hate to see it happen again.
