8 teams in the top 41. once again this is the best conference in america by a wide margin.

houston’s AdjD is the lowest i’ve ever seen for a team heading into conference play. even against cupcakes, 83.6 points per 100 possessions is unreal. kelvin sampson is (imo) a marginally better version of rick barnes in this sense- the way that he recruits and coaches makes his teams a nightmare to face during the regular season, even if it doesn’t lend itself to winning 6 games in a row in march. there might be a new big boy on the. lock in this league.

How often has Kansas lost 7 conference games in a season?

Self lost 6 in 18-19 and 20-21.

Gotta go all the way back to Roy Williams going 6-8 his first season in 88-89. Fucking unreal.

Purdue, Arizona, SDSU, Alabama, Marquette, UNC, Wisconsin, Memphis, and Tennessee with the toughest non-con schedules out the schools that project to get top 4 seeds. will be interesting to see how that impacts tourney seeding.

houston’s defense is as good as i’ve ever seen at this point in the season.

and they’re 0-2 in the big xii lol. will be interesting to see what their stats look like come the end of conference play.

with a road loss at #1 Houston and a   win at home against "Top 10 BYU," Tech dropped from 30 to 31.

LOLz.   Lots of sorting remains to be seen.

I still love that kenpom whiffed on our first 4 conference games coming out of the noncon schedule.  His predictions should tighten up over time, but that was pretty bad.

I believe it was the first 5. Had wins against Tech, WVU, UCF and losses against Cincy and Baylor.

No, he had us beating Baylor.

Vegas had us favored but KenPom had us losing by 2.

It will be good to take another look 3 weeks from now at which teams fall within those constraints. Most teams have only played about 4 or 5 conference games.

Texas #43 in KenPom

the gap in AdjD between no.1 Houston and no.2 Tennessee is bigger than the gap between Tennessee and no.28 New Mexico. 👀

I think we do better than 4-8 down the stretch. Having to integrate Disu so late into the non-conference schedule means we're really still figuring out the best mix of rotations etc... The team is showing improvement the last couple of games, and I expect that to continue. If Iowa State can lose in Norman, they sure as fuck can lose in Austin.

My guess is we steal the TCU or Iowa State game.

9-9 absolutely feels on the table if this team plays to their potential. I have a tough time going above that mark considering the two crappy losses already and the margin for error we are working with. Would obviously be safely in the tournament with 9 wins.

Kansas is middle of the Conference and has 2 of the top 5 performers?  LOLz.

More like Ken-phog.

and no, I'm not suggesting  Red Raider be on the list, as there is certainly not one guy who has stood out for us.  It has varied by game, bigtime.

The other 60% of their starting 5 must suck...

I think unironically they have a big depth problem. They have 4 guys playing 32+ minutes a game and a pretty big dropoff after that.

They have the worst bench in the conference. Have 4 starters averaging 32 minutes or more a game.

@Brian Fantana beat me to it.

I'm no basketball expert, but it's possible that we should have prioritized drawing more than 10 fouls on their 5 starters.

Late day, and (ironically) too much coffee.  Delete user, ban thread or something.

KenPom must not know we have the 15th highest scorer in NCAA history.
