He died too soon now he's up there with Hank

cross him off, then.

Everyday, I ask what in the hell are the Astros doing?

This picture answers all questions Astros related.

Why did they hire Dana Brown? Is he ready for this job?

Are we getting another dominate starting pitcher?

The winter meetings start tomorrow. Let's see what happens this week.

whole lot of nothing unless a large amount cap space opens up

The Mexico City episode of No Reservations is telling that’s a once in a lifetime Astros trip

Not quite sure what the Mariners are up to but, so far,  it doesn’t appear they are trying to be competitive in 2024. Unless they are cutting payroll thinking they can land Ohtani or that Japanese pitcher.

Where is that from?  One reason I’m not more perturbed about front office departures is that a list like that should get a few people fired, even with prospect trades and draft pick forfeiture.

Top prospect is a low ceiling 2nd division regular and everyone else is either a lottery ticket or low ceiling.

That list reflects 8 straight years of being a deadline buyer combined with picking late and losing 4 top draft picks as a penalty for sign stealing.  The front office has done a great job in context.  If you wanna pick nits you can cast blame on their eval/development of top international bonus signees (Leon, Nova, Lorenzo) but their drafts have been very good considering what they were working with.

Bregman was never leaving. Not a sufficient replacement

And Dana brown just reiterated such

The cupboard has been bare for several years now. And yet, they keep getting contributions from the nobodies they bring up. It's not like anyone saw Chas McCormick developing into a top 5 CF, for instance.

It appears that the ghost of Dusty might still be roaming the clubhouse

You’ll thank them for playing the obviously inferior player more later.

Ok. If we want to be pedantic.

Youll thank them later for giving more playing time to the obviously inferior player.

Happy now, Dusty?

Damn, some of y'all could complain about Altuve only getting 4 hits in a game and not 5.

WTF is Espada supposed to say?  They have actively been trying to trade Meyers for a while now.  They have to talk up his potential, of which much more than Myles Straw still exists.

Chas is going to be the starter. Meyers prob won’t even be on the team.

going with Julks in LF, bold

*bold for this thread.

I have zero issues if julks earns the job out of camp, even if he beats out someone we sign

If we sign an OF with the intent of him starting and Julks beats him out then Dana Brown needs to be fired immediately.  jfc

Whatever trade we make throw Julks in. For whatever

Not my guy. I mean- I don't hate the idea and I suspect he's probably not a moron- but I'd have hired someone that had done this before that I was positive wasn't a moron, so at this point it's guessing and conjecture.

One little thing to say- he might mean it's down to Jake and Chas as in- is Jake good enough to play a lot of center and shift Chas over to left when Yordan doesn't play in the OF (which I'd believe would be the majority of the time), or does chas need to play CF every day and figure something else out.
But, probably not. That would be the most hopeful reading of it.
