If you skip the COVID season weirdness, that'd be Altuve's lowest OPS since 2015. Projections are conservative and they're factoring in age-related regression possibility, but I'd happily bet the over on that number if Jose is healthy.

I think those are just for the 2024 playoffs.

Free agent RHP Jake Odorizzi, an All-Star starter in 2019, is throwing without restrictions and looking to sign a major league deal in the coming weeks. Odorizzi, 33, has pitched off the mound this offseason in front of evaluators from 10 to 12 teams. @MLBNetwork @MLB

Outfielder Jorge Soler and the San Francisco Giants are in agreement on a three-year, $42 million contract, a source familiar with the deal tells ESPN. Soler opted out of a $13 million contract -- and gets more than that over three years. First with the deal was @susanslusser.

I like how you think. Bring back Odorizzi. Hahaha. Would immediately take the heat off Meyers as the worst Astro regular.

Loved it as usual, but particularly loved the fact that you guys (on a baseball podcast) had more insightful commentary on the Shanahan coin toss decision than people who actually cover the NFL.

Yeah- it was fucking bizarre to me to hear guys who absolutely should understand this better, with major media platforms, totally and completely miss the obvious that you absolutely want the ball 3rd because you can end the game with that possession after the very likely possibility of a tie through the first 2 possessions of overtime. And the only way to get the ball 3rd is to get it first.

Astros RHP Justin Verlander said he’s a couple of weeks behind and his timetable is TBA. “When I first started playing catch I usually shut it down for a while and this time when I shut it down and picked a ball back up, my shoulder didn’t feel so great so I kind of had to take…

JV having health problems in his age 41 season should 100% be expected, as his age is an obvious risk. Counting on him too much is a bit…optimistic.

Not a big deal. And it’s not like he was going to be doing much in ST at 41. Non issue.

Hader’s going to be the primary closer. I’m glad their not trying co-closers

Josh Hader will pitch the ninth inning when he and Ryan Pressly are both available, Joe Espada said. Espada said he met with both pitchers together yesterday and informed them about the plan.

Same thing happened to Verlandar last year.  I am wondering if it's a strategy to limit his innings by having him miss the first few weeks of the season.

He missed 1.5 months last year though I think.

7 rangers
3 Yankees

3 blue jays

3 Braves

it’s not like we play anyone good the first 3 weeks of the season where we’ll need them.

Cant wait to see Beilak against the Rangers and/or Braves multiple times!
