December 16, 20187 yr Any news from Texas sources ever come out on why Houston decommitted?? Article below says Texas started showing less interest.... From NEWSOK .... https://newsok.com/article/5617855/high-school-football-millwood-star-demariyon-houstons-recruitment-remains-up-in-the-air Millwood star receiver De'Mariyon Houston was set on signing with Texas on Wednesday to open the early National Signing Day. He had taken several promotional photos, had visits with the coaches and been to campus. But something changed in the last few weeks. Texas' interest waned. Despite being committed since early July, Houston was discouraged. It was time to start over in the recruiting process. One of the state's top recruits re-entered the market. “It was like they found somebody else or something and they were really trying to push him off,” Millwood athletic director Shannon Hayes said. “He felt like they didn't want him anymore.” Edited December 16, 20187 yr by LTtxfan
December 17, 20187 yr D.Houston decommitted on Dec 3rd and reopened his recruitment, and was thought to be a flip to Oklahoma. But according to a recent OKNews article, D.Houston has not been in contact with Oklahoma or Ok State..... UPDATE: Per other posters.... 9.95er's have stated that D.Houston's senior film was not very good. Went back and checked, and found D.Houston committed to Texas in early July 2018. Speculation on another board is that "Houston was processed. Plain and simple. It happens all the time. Basically told you no longer have a spot... Its done several ways. You just tell them, or you stop contact, etc etc. The recruit gets the idea and just decommits." Recruiting is a tough business, no doubt. I checked current commitments for some B12 & other Teams that previously contacted D.Houston, and it appears that: Minn, Tenn, Mizzu, OkSt, Tech, Kansas, Colorado and possibly Baylor all might still have room to recruit D.Houston. My personal opinion is that with CJ/LJH possibly returning, plus other surprises ( WR transfer, Higgins or Bru), Texas no longer had a spot for D.Houston.
February 1, 20196 yr Just saw this on NSD2..... Nebraska’s already put together a top 20 class, and it’s in position to add a pair of four-star players on National Day. The Huskers are in a head-to-head battle with Kansas for four-star Dallas-area defensive end Steven Parker, and they’re the favorite to land four-star Oklahoma City wide receiver Demariyon Houston. Reel in both and Scott Frost would cement a top 20 class. Edited February 1, 20196 yr by LTtxfan
February 1, 20196 yr Another article...... Glad DH has options https://www.omaha.com/huskers/blogs/husker-wr-recruit-demariyon-houston-keeps-nebraska-close-as-decision/article_ae654add-2ee9-50d2-91b8-f7faa4d01f6f.html

February 6, 20196 yr This article shared info on why Texas backed off.... "Originally a Texas commit, he was encouraged to open his recruitment back up because Texas thought he was an academic risk." https://www.cornnation.com/2019/2/6/18207770/nebraska-football-recruiting-wide-receiver-demariyon-houston-commitment

Granted, the degree at Texas certainly means more.
