This seems simple enough for me if you look at this objectively.

Lot of ACC on the committee member resumes, inuring the chair. I don’t think this is the year an undefeated ACC champ gets left out.

Yeah, I thought that was pretty obvious. Don't know how @Modessit missed that.

If Louisville had Arch they win by twenty. I'm not sure what that really means. But the committee will take it into due consideration.

So Bama over UGA, Texas over Bama and OU sneaks their way in yet again.

This was at halftime of the FSU game

Yeah, I think Texas is now 4th and Bama 5th based on the ESPN predictor odds.

If Louisville had any of the Dr Pepper kids they might have won.

Objectively, it would be

Michigan

Washington

TEXAS

Alabama

"The Alabama team is better now" when trying to discount the H2H win against Texas is so dumb.

If that's how you're going to evaluate who deserves to make it then both Alabama and Texas should make it. They're both clearly better than FSU right now.

Alabama is better than they were but Texas is the same bro. Do you even SEC, SEC, SEC?

You mean the conference that FSU has been saying they're too good for?

Talking heads do not equal committee that put Oregon over us with no other metric other than eye test.

And they kept Oregon over us when Oregon only beat Tech by 8 while we fucking destroyed Tech.

I wish I had some of y'all's confidence but they had a hard-on for Oregon even when Texas wrecked Tech, and sure, they have plenty of folks who don't care for Alabama or the SEC, but they also have plenty of folks with ties to the ACC.

And ESPN's CFP percentages seem to change in every game, even if displayed at the same time, almost as if they were aimed at different audiences.

What would the spreads be in either a Texas - FSU or Alabama - FSU matchup?

Yeah and the same committee also had Texas ahead of Bama all year due to the head to head. And they were just humbled by UW with Oregon and the eye test. Head to head rules the day. Kiss my ass Bama.

"The Alabama team is better now" when trying to discount the H2H win against Texas is so dumb.

Yeah I heard this from the announcers on the FSU game ironically, while they were trying to gas up FSU. Made no sense.

Logically, whether it’s viewed as direct competition with Bama for the 4 or three teams for two spots, Texas should be in. FSU can point to being undefeated and Texas has the H2H Trump card over Bama. To me the real completion should be Bama’s overall body of work vs FSU as a limping 13-0. I think it’s reasonable to disagree there but the other spot logically has to be Texas regardless of approach.

Bama has had a great year in their own right and most years would comfortably be in the CFP but in this case there is no way they are ahead of Texas unless the committee just says “lolsec”

Maybe they do, I’d be surprised but we’ll find out tomorrow either way.

Man my biggest football-head friend is convinced FSU will go. “Can’t go undefeated in a P5, with your 3rd string qb no less, and not go.”

He thinks no SEC teams go.

They could have had Tom Brady at QB but if the WR can't catch the fucking ball, it don't make a shit.

They had Oregon over Texas before the comparative tech game and it’s not that big of a deal. There was not real H2H or other direct analysis like Texas/Bama. Bama isn’t jumping Texas here, period.

I think Oregon is exactly why Texas will get in over Bama.

Dave Bartoo says the reason Oregon > Texas is because of "game control." That's apparently a metric the committee really prioritizes. It had Oregon ahead of Texas before Oregon lost this weekend.

Here's where "game control" had the rankings prior to the FSU result.

“You fucking idiot!!! Texas is in 100%! They’ve never been fucked over before.” -posters in this thread

Can somebody please explain to the "Alabama is better now than when Texas beat them" mouthbreathers that we won our last two games 106-28, both against bowl teams?

Edited by TexArcher

I just checked the listings and the CFP show is going to last 4 hours. I guess we aren't going to find anything out at 11.

Btw, we are Vegas favorites to get in between us, Bama, and FSU. Bama is the 2nd favorite slightly over FSU. People with money on the line have us as the favorites. Texas is in.

Maybe because nobody knows WTF "Game Control" even is.

Just remember that most of the idiots who are currently saying Texas gets left out were the same idiots saying we should have rooted for Georgia. Which, you know, would have absolutely eliminated Texas as the committee would have just taken the 4 undefeated P5 champs.

In short, they're morons.

That was at the start of the day today. Hate to break it to ya
They showed it about 30 minutes ago.

My CFP prediction
1. Michigan
2. Washington
3. FSU
4. Texas

5. Alabama
6. Georgia
7. Ohio State
8. Oregon

We had just come off really struggling with Rice when we beat Bama.

I’d love to avoid a rematch. Saban still has his fastball and somehow having FSU luck into a title game against us would greatly please me. I think Bama would beat either UM or Wash.

If we are going to look past the head to head, let’s not forget that Bama barely beat a shitty Auburn team (that lost the NM State the week before) late in the season on a miracle play.

And also remind them Alabama needed a miracle to beat Auburn.

It is related inversely to the square root of Bo Nix's completion percentage

Glad I at least had the good sense to say it was better if Bama won. But not by too much...which they didn't.

I don't think Bama should get in just because everyone wants to believe they are one of the 4 best teams now. FSU did what they were supposed to do to get in, can't look past that because you think Bama is better.
