December 20, 20187 yr "On this lonely road, tryin ta make it home . . ." Shit they had me from the first chord of that dobro. The fantastic series was a wonderful surprise. Did a pretty good job of making SoCal look like Eastern Kentucky. The Elmore Leonard actual and EL-inspired dialogue was Coenesque (or was it the other way around?). Anyway, send us more like Deadwood, Justified, No Country For Old Men and True Grit (2010).

December 20, 20187 yr I just came in to say it’s amazing that anyone on this board missed Justified when it was on unless they did so on purpose. It felt like it was the source of 90% of what was written on TOS for a 3-4 year period.
December 21, 20187 yr Watching this for the first time now. On episode 3. Very entertaining. Is this based on Elmore Leonard material? I saw he’s a producer.
December 21, 20187 yr Yes, Raylan Givens was in a short story and a couple of novels. After the show got popular, he also wrote an additional novel called Raylan. They're all really good but I'm a fan of everything Leonard ever wrote. Boyd was in the short story only and died at the end. The story goes that Goggins was so good in the early episodes that they decided not to kill him off but kept him around for the whole series.
December 21, 20187 yr I should have paid more attention to the opening credits, but I was too busy watching the show. Ava’s a cutie. I remember liking her in High Fidelity. Good candidate for the over-40-and-still-got-it club.
December 21, 20187 yr You can have Ava, as it leave more Winona for me.Regarding Goggins, I've read he was supposed to die in episode 1, and Justified was to be more of a procedural, serial show. (The 1st half of season 1 was.) Then Goggins comes in and before the 1st episode was done taping they said, "Yeah we need to keep this guy." Dude's a boss.
December 22, 20187 yr My two favorite things in the show Boyd Crowder taking 15 minutes to say R a y l a n G i v e n s One line-Apple Pie.
December 23, 20187 yr The writing falls off a little towards the end of season one. Looking forward to season two.
December 25, 20186 yr You know who's a national treasure? The most badass lawman in the State of Kentucky, Constable Bob. You stay frosty.
December 31, 20186 yr I like that red headed coal company lady. Worth a Google. And this is the first time I’ve seen Jeremy Davies actually play a different character than his usual Upham routine. Good stuff.

January 2, 20196 yr Damn, the never ending talent on this show. Didn’t expect Carla Gugino in season 3. Big fan.

Oh yeah, is that the character from Out of Sight that JLo played in the movie? One thing that I really liked about the first two seasons is that the writers didn’t rely on stupid plot devices, and whenever the criminals did something dumb they usually got called on it. That seems to be fading some in season three. Still amazed by the number of recognizable actors in this. I’ve counted three Band of Brothers so far, Roach from Point Break, Private Upham, Needle Nosed Ned Ryerson, Bubba Gump, a couple of Deadwood regulars, and many many more. And I’m only on season 3.

January 3, 20196 yr It's one of my top 10. Wife and I both loved it. Agree - like almost every show - later seasons were not as good, but still a great show. I think Raylen is cool and Olyphant does a great job. Two of my favorite lines the I regularly quote are the "asshole" speech and "dicks, dicks, dicks."
January 5, 20196 yr You know my only complaint about this show is the theme song. I really don’t like that Uncle Cracker country-rap stuff.
January 5, 20196 yr Done with season three. It was a good one. For the Winona fans (pretty much everyone):https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/g748/natalie-zea-photos-2011/
January 18, 20196 yr Season 4 is widely considered the weakest, and maybe it is. But I'll say the Crowe's are intriguing in that they have no ulterior motive. Mags Bennett wanted to get rich and leave. Robert Quarles was running from himself. Drew Thompson was hiding from EVERYONE. Daryl Crowe only wanted to be pure, white, trash. (ie, a Floridian) That makes him dangerous.
January 18, 20196 yr And before you watch the series finale, make sure to rewatch the pilot. Lotsa call backs the pilot.

January 27, 20196 yr Huh. A direct line from Heat appears in S6E8. “I don’t see you pulling thrill seeker stickups with a born to lose tattoo on your chest.”Mary Steenburgen looks pretty good for 65.
