November 12, 20232 yr Popular Post I'm upset about what I think is the ceiling being placed on our program by poor game management and coaching. That being said, we're 9-1. This is the thread where I'll be happy. Not sure what this guy's music selection was all about but here are some highlights from the last time we won our 9th game before losing our 2nd.
November 12, 20232 yr The big difference between Sark and Herman/Strong is I think he's done a much better job of stacking legit talent. That makes up for his coaching malpractice at times. Figure out that part of the coaching and the ceiling is much higher.
November 12, 20232 yr Popular Post We have yet to put together a complete game. That is 100% on Sark. I've never seen a coach mismanage momentum in a game like Sark does. That being said, if he can take a hard look at himself in the mirror and make the needed changes, Texas will be absolutely scary again. The talent is there, the talent is developing, it's just pure coaching mistakes, at this point. Mack was in this same position around 2003. Edited November 12, 20232 yr by Eastwood
November 12, 20232 yr We're 9-1. I'm stoked. I haven't felt like this in a long ass time. I will take what I can get. And we got that Alabama win under our belt.
November 12, 20232 yr Popular Post This dude took over a program that had 13 years of rot, incompetence, complacency. It’s year 3 and we are 9-1z. Shut the fuck up and enjoy the ride. It was just 2 years ago that we lost to Kansas at home. Not saying he is perfect but we have a chance to win the conference and make the CFP and are likely to have 3 top 5 classes in a row. What more do you want.
November 12, 20232 yr Hire an OC. Develop an awesome coaching tree of OC’s/QB/WR/TE coaches that can spread your genius of offense. You don’t have to do it all yourself.
November 12, 20232 yr Popular Post We can both be happy with 9-1 and pissed about the idiocy of the coaching & leadership. The two things can coexist.

November 12, 20232 yr We could have beat TCU by 50 tonight, but lose next week and we miss the rig12 championship game. A win is a win is a win. 9-1, on to Ames. Winning by 1 is fine, as long as we win.

November 12, 20232 yr All I really care about is dragging our balls on every other big 12 team and winning the big 12 on the way out. Anything ele is gravy
November 12, 20232 yr 8 minutes ago, LTtxfan said: 9-1 Better get up for next two games... Cyclones and tech are improving. Are they? After the Kansas loss last weekend they moved to 1-4 against D1 teams with a winning record. They look like the same team from the beginning of the year. Beat meh to bad teams (other than OK State) and lose to almost every good team.
November 12, 20232 yr 9-1 - Haven’t seen this in 14 years. LSU, Notre Dame, USC, Oklahoma, Penn State, etc… All not 9-1. I’ll take it. Edited November 12, 20232 yr by Rip76
November 12, 20232 yr Popular Post To match the energy of this thread. Just win baby. Forget the CFP for now, if it works out it works out. In the meantime win these next three games however you fucking can and if the B12 championship victory should happen to come against OSU understand that we have the opportunity to walk out of this season with scoreboard on EVERY FUCKING TEAM in the 2024 version of the Big 12.......except Cincy (but only because we have never played them)

November 12, 20232 yr If we win the BIG XII then I can fully celebrate otherwise it is going to feel good but only because it has been so long.

I thought that would have been a closer game just because BYU is a better team at home. But BYU is also about to be 5-5 and could very well be 4-6 if not some luck against Arkansas. I'm worried about any team on the road but Iowa State is 1-4 against D1 teams with a winning record. This is not a game we should lose.

November 12, 20232 yr Depends on where the ceiling is. It still feels like we are on our way up. 12 minutes ago, Pimphand said: We can both be happy with 9-1 and pissed about the idiocy of the coaching & leadership. The two things can coexist. I don't know what the problem is really. Will the program outgrow this issue? Is it really idiotic leadership? I have seen subpar leadership. It doesn't look like increasing talent and better results. The fact we had Brooks and Baxter ready to replace Bijan and Roschon is amazing. That is not idiotic leadership and coaching. So are our current issues just a stage in our rising up from our doldrums or are they something that just comes with Sark and they will will ultimately be his undoing. I don't know. So I will wait and see. But not pissed yet. Maybe this tendency just something we have to overcome. But I certainly expect it going forward this year. But I also expected all these games to be tough. November 12, 20232 yr Popular Post 9-1 is fucking awesome. We are a very entitled fanbase. I still remember the days when we bitched about having a couple of losses then we wandered into the desert with Charlie and Tom for too long. I'll happily take this season after the torment of the past decade.

November 12, 20232 yr I like the fact that we are beating teams on the road that, in all reality, we should never play at (or against) during a regular season for at least 15-20 years. Never again on the road.Hook’em!!!
November 12, 20232 yr 9-1 is amazing after going thru the last ten years or so! It’s just frustrating that this team should be better than they have been this year. One day we will learn to put away lesser teams hopefully, if not next year could be rough.
November 12, 20232 yr We can both be happy with 9-1 and pissed about the idiocy of the coaching & leadership. The two things can coexist.Agreed that it can, but the people who truly want us to move on from Sark given each year has shown improvement and we're sitting at 9-1 alone at the top of the conference standings are idiots of the worst kind. Will Sark's tenure be more like Mack's or closer to Strong/Herman? Hard to say for sure at this point, but once again...improvement each year and we're trending up in the W/L category in spite of some breakdowns on both sides of the ball in multiple games. It's up to the individual fan to do with that whatever they will, but makes zero impact on what happens on the field of play.
November 12, 20232 yr Fuck it. Ok. Just continue to win these stupid ass, ugly wins. Finish 11-1. Win the conference, beating OU. Lose out on the CFP finishing 7th or 8th. Play in the Cotton Bowl and win, maybe. Depends on who we play. So 13-1 or 12-2 season. I am reassessing now and feeling, yeah OK, this is good. I’m done thinking of Texas like an upper-middle class suburbanite thinks of and tells their kid, I know you can do much better if you just apply yourself. Just gonna coast now.
November 12, 20232 yr Popular Post We are seconds away from being 10-0 and we beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa and people are bitching and moaning that it's not enough and they are "over Sark and this team". It's just embarrassing.
November 12, 20232 yr Finishing 10-2 is still progress (next week is a loss imo) Based on what, the clones being an awesome team? No win is ever guaranteed, but the thing about good teams is they still come out with a W even with some shitty play on both sides of the ball. MB coached teams were known for this...but at the end of the day it's much better to have an ugly win than pretty loss. (aggy style)
November 12, 20232 yr My 1st Longhorn game was 1961 vs aggy. Horn fan since then, but this is the strangest 9-1 that I remember. I hope we keep it up, run the table and see where we land. Edited November 12, 20232 yr by Laga4
November 12, 20232 yr Maybe we should consider bringing back Akina. Fuck, bring back Muschamp too and this defense goes up another level.
