This team has two glaring weaknesses.  Rebounding and help defense.  Both actually got better in crunch time, but UL just made some shots.

Nah, Louisville is terrible

That was last year.

How the hell did he make that, Jeebus?

I yelled “no!” At my TV when he put that up. Goddamn.

only reason we had a chance.

Shot us out of the game, and made the big time shot at the end to win it. This team's streakiness will cause some heartburn though.

Big man grew up big time today though, hopefully his shoulder is alright.

They just hit shots in this game. Basketball is a crazy sport when shots go in.

When you're not playing well, it sure helps to have veteran shotmakers. Sorry to disappoint the announcers with a win.

Crazy thing is that play was 100% designed for Abmas even with his terrible shooting today. Talk about some confidence in a dude.

Definitely an ugly performance but Louisville played out of their minds based on the last 2 years. They never shoot like that from the FT line or from 3.

Ugly performance from us, Louisville shooting much better than normal, and horrible officiating is how you get a weird game like this.

Yea, that was like bizarro-Louisville. Didn't expect this to be a game at all.

So glad we rescued him from that boring ass offense in Virginia. Dude can play

This

Team didn’t quit and pulled out the win.  This game will help them get better.

I think it's just the nature of basketball and why March Madness is March Madness. Any given day shots can fall for a bad team.

What a shot. Great win for this team to gel around. Poor shooting night and finding a way to grind out a win.

I don't know how good Louisville will be this year but they have athletes and size and they were playing pretty hungry for this one.

Resilient, both times Louisville hit a 3 late, they'd come right back. Shedrick is badass with one arm.

Hopefully, this gives Louisville some confidence and this win can at least become a quad 2 win since it's on a neutral court.

Texas’ defense play helped Louisville greatly by proving zero help defense and the inability to pick up so many cuts. They should’ve never been able to get been able to get as many open 3 looks. But a W is a W.

Aayyyooo. BING BONG

Shedrick’s my boy.

That was a fun game. I assumed the handwringing on this board would be at 11. Y’all did not disappoint. Glad this isn’t a loss that they’ll have to apologize for all year. Whew.

That's pretty much been how teams have defended Louisville. Let them shoot open 3s because they've been one of the worst shooting teams in the country.

They were 264th in FT shooting coming into this game. They hit 27/31 from the FT line. This was just a weird game.

I don't suppose there is a way (no pun intended) to get Craig Way's call of that last shot?

What a weekend for Craig, by the way.  Ames, IA to NYC in 18 hours with two thrilling sports events.

The offense is going to carry this team a lot of nights. 81 points when we were 2/17 from deep.

If we can get Abmas to become just an average defender it would make a world of difference.

The biggest issue is Abmas and Horton aren't defenders or rebounders. When they have nights like tonight it's problematic. One of those guys has to score for us because that's their strength.

Which is why I think we might see more Weaver moving forward in place of Horton in certain instances.

I don't know why RT didn't go to more of that full court or 3/4 court pressure. It gave them a ton of issues on the last possession.

Louisville turns the ball over a ton and we like to run. We need to run more 3/4 or full court pressure.

“Iso up top” is a play?

I think you just get a feel for the game. If Horton and Abmas aren't scoring play the guy that does the other things better.

Weaver's on ball D on their last possession was outstanding.

Abmas and Horton have to also learn when shots aren't falling to stop jacking 3s. When Disu comes back it looks like we have 2 guys that can really score inside.

You don't have to live and die by the 3 with this roster.

We get the learning benefits of a loss without having to take a loss.  A team shouldn't win when shooting 2-17 from behind the arc.  Thank goodness our FT% was vastly improved over the last game.

Louisville is really, really, really bad. This should be a blowout.

So about that ...

Haha, but seriously, I was working and missed the game. Love seeing only five turnovers, but it looks like we couldn't throw it into the ocean from BTA. And 12 assists on 31 made baskets is definitely a cause for concern, imo.

For those who watched, was there too much hero ball? Seventeen attempted 3s isn't bad, especially on 67 total shots ...

holy shit.  Didn't deserve to win but we will take it.

Deserves got nothing to do with it.

Gonna be fun and at times frustrating watching this year's Horns play and develop this season.  Lots to work on, but talented and entertaining.  🤘

I was at the crazy game in MSG against Illinois last year. Louisville had a historically bad year last year and saw 7 players leave via the portal. They got 8 new players including transfer Clark from Illinois and four 4-star recruits. So like our roster, they had a lot of turnover so expecting that a program with Louisvilles history of success would again be terrible after 3 games seems a little overly simplistic.

I mean they can improve but look at the results.

They lost to Kentucky Wesleyan in an exhibition, beat UMBC by 1 point, and lost by double digits to Chattanooga. Maybe this was some huge turning point for Louisville? My guess is they still suck and just about everything went wrong for Texas in this game.

Has Texas ever shot well in that building? I have memories of Brandon Mouton and sydmill Harris not being able to hit a damn thing in this building
