January 24, 20241 yr Happy Beltre got in. I know he will go in as a Ranger but I loved him when he was playing for the Sox. Just don't touch his head. Edited January 24, 20241 yr by InkaUtexas

January 24, 20241 yr Wow. Some surprises on there. Wagner deserved better. congrats to Mauer. vizquel's omission continues to be bullshit. But some of those guys that won't make another ballot, I'd have thought they'd last a few years or so. But as Augie kept telling us, the game is a cruel, fucking bitch.

January 24, 20241 yr Todd Helton’s case when you look at other 1B is pretty unassailable. Advanced stats love him, he played very good defense, and he’s never been connected to roids which means something to the voters.

January 24, 20241 yr If Billy Wagner was a Yankee, he would have entered the HoF in his first or second year of eligibility. Total BS.

That ballot was pretty stacked. I could see him being 11th on a couple guys ballots. Or maybe they just fucked up checking the boxes. They are humans and baseball writers so on some level they are morons, mostly.
January 24, 20241 yr Ichiro will get in on first ballot next year. I have to guess that enough voters will throw in a vote for Wagner too.

Yea. 6th most saves all time and there are already 8 closers in the HoF - not to mention that he did it in 95 to 266 less appearances than the 5th guys with more saves.

February 3, 20241 yr Beltre going with the Rangers hat into Cooperstown. As a Sox fan I expected this and applaud him. Looks like he will have all 4 teams on the plaque. When in fact he literally played half his career as a DH or 1B, where his type of production was actually sub-HOF.

It’s why his WAR was so much higher before he transitioned to 1B. You can remove all his season from 2014 on and he still easily has more than Santiago.
