November 23, 20232 yr Author Thanksgiving menu, pretty traditional fare, small crowd 6 adults and 5 children. Mains Roasted turkey (14#) stuffed with hashweh (rice and meat stuffing) Ham Sides Roasted mushroom and green bean casserole Mashed potato casserole Stuffed onions Tamale stuffing (bozo recipe) Sweet potato dish (BIL) Apps Green onion cheese ball Bouyardi (roasted feta/tomato dip) Stuffed shrooms Spinach pies Desert Pumpkin Pecan
November 23, 20232 yr Popular Post put the brisket on at 1030 last night aiming for a 10-11 finish and the damn thing never really stalled and went strait to 200 and was done around 6 this morning. Smoking a turkey and making mashed potatoes, stuffing, Mac and cheese, pinto beans and sweet potatoes.
November 23, 20232 yr Just the wife and I so the usual turkey, stuffing, taters, corn, jellied cranberry sauce, and we’re trying out the rolls from Texas Roadhouse this year, cherry & pumpkin pie. We go big on the turkey as I like to freeze a half dozen plates for tv dinners throughout the year.
November 23, 20232 yr Turkey, bacon-pear cornbread dressing, cardiac mashed potatoes, roasted brussels sprouts, homemade cranberry sauce, homemade parker house rolls. For dessert, pumpkin and Dutch apple pie.
November 23, 20232 yr Cooking for just four, so a pretty basic menu of turkey, stuffing (my mom’s from the midwest, so dressing was foreign to me growing up), brussel sprouts with bacon and balsamic, Boursin mashed potatoes, cranberries, and roasted root vegetable salad. Kicking it off with Bloody Mary’s. Happy Thanksgiving, my dudes.
November 23, 20232 yr Mixed charcuterie plate with some red wine blends to open with. Smoked whole turkey breast (Franklin BBQ style, drenched in butter), two smoked whole pork loins, one filled with sage pork sausage, one filled with Italian pork sausage, and both wrapped in bacon. Corn pudding casserole, sweet potato casserole with bacon and pecans, garlicy green beans, yeast rolls, and home-made cranberrry sauce. Guests are bringing dessert (and hopefully, lots of wine).
November 23, 20232 yr Lazy this year, so the local BBQ place provided a smoked 16 lb turkey and an 8lb ham for $100.
November 23, 20232 yr Author Bird is halfway stuffed, under breast, thigh, and neck skin. Misunderestimated the amount of stuffing, so gonna whip up another batch of the stuffing to fill cavity mid flight. ETA: Post cavity manueuver. Edited November 23, 20232 yr by Anastasis

November 23, 20232 yr Going to wife’s brother’s in half an hour. Wife was assigned to bring her mom’s stuffing recipe. I was assigned to bring pecan pie and my mother’s biscuit recipe. Not sure what else SIL has planned, but it is sure to be phenomenal. She is about as good as a home cook can be - both cooking and baking. Edited November 23, 20232 yr by Tonesky
November 23, 20232 yr Popular Post Was three glasses to the good at that point and didn’t get any post-carve or plated pron. Carcass will get turned into stock at some point this weekend. Happy Thanksgiving, surly assholes.
November 23, 20232 yr Popular Post I’m alone for the first time, while the house gets sold before the family comes up. But that’s no reason not to be thankful or to make a solid meal of standard fare. I do love making fresh mashed potatoes- the amount of dairy that goes into them is obscene.
November 23, 20232 yr Herb crusted rack of lamb with a mint mustard sauce. Over polenta. Brown sugar and butter glazed carrot. Fried brochollini. Slammed. Happy Thanksgiving you fucking assholes!
November 23, 20232 yr At daughter-in-law’s grandmother’s house in Oahu and the turkey and ham were cooked in the ground overnight. Not a ham fan, but that pulled ham was amazing.

November 24, 20232 yr Thanksgiving leftover quesadilla. Made a cream cheese + cranberry sauce spread for the inside then added turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes. Dipped the wedges in gravy. Needed the crunch of the toasted tortilla to contrast with the stuffing/mashed potatoes inside. Will do again.
November 24, 20232 yr That's peak steel shank as well. Bravo!I can’t possibly compare to the master. But it slapped.
November 25, 20232 yr Are you not? It’s things like this in our troubled times that somehow Texas will be ok.
November 27, 20232 yr BIL came correct with a badass pot of collards on thanksgiving. Smoked turkey necks and some sort of hog in there. This is how traditions are born. He is now required to bring them every year. Awesome addition to our spread. Edited November 27, 20232 yr by huge
