November 30, 20232 yr Just learned that Scott Kempner died yesterday. If the name isn't familiar, google The Dictators and/or The Del Lords. Kempner a/k/a Top Ten was part of some really good music -- proto-punk and humorous straight-ahead rock in the Dictators and rootsier stuff in the Del Lords. Between his death and that of Shane MacGowan of the Pogues, it's a sad day for edgy, honest, rock and roll (both Celtic- and NYC-influenced). Guess I'll be listening to Go Girl Crazy! in addition to Rum, Sodomy & the Lash tonight . . .
November 30, 20232 yr There was a nice post on Facebook by one of the Alvin brothers -- I think Dave -- about this. They were good buds.

Ironically, I learned about his death via a Facebook post by Marshall Crenshaw, who was part of the same NYC scene in the late 70's and early 80's. I'll have to check out DA's post.
December 1, 20232 yr RIP Top Ten. Manitoba had a nice post about this on his Insta. Good to see some Dictators love in here (Blasters, as well).
