Say what you will about max and him being a complete and utter asshole on the track, there’s no way you can’t find his sim set up with trophies just haphazardly displayed like that hilarious. Other drivers on the grid would kill for the opportunity to stand on the top of the rostrum and be handed a trophy just once and he’s getting them multiple times per season and then throwing them in the trunk like happy Gilmore with his comically huge checks.

I saw a great graphic before FP3. All of the teams have improved their cars this season except one - Aston Martin. They’ve gotten .28s slower over the season.

Yeah, baffling as to how they could regress with one fantastic driver. The other guy should be nearing the end of his Make A Wish stint in Formula 1.

Perez in danger here. Had a lap time removed. Four minutes to go and he is back on the track, currently without a time, along with Colapinto.

EDIT: they just reinstated the time that was deleted. So Perez is ok, I think.

Listening to the Perez radio while he is bitching at his crew about checking for his time, when they tell him it was just reinstated, was frustrating. I’m so ready for him to go away.

#3560

Holy shit, LeClerc just nailed the top time in Q2 but, it got deleted so with the penalty, he will start last. Looks great for McLaren for the team title.

Stroll did not get to Q3, shocking.

#3561

Max with a helluva save just exiting the final turn and scores the pole. Will it stand though with track limits? 7:30 to go so there is still time if Max needs another go. Nope, not gonna be deleted, right front stayed on track.

Checo makes it less than one lap?

Also LEC +11 places in one lap? Damn.

After an absolutely amazing last lap overtake around the outside, Hamilton wins the points H2H against RussellHamilton - 697Russell - 695

Incredibly close.

#3568

I wish Sainz was going to a stronger team.

Also a crazy stat I saw: excluding DNFs, the last time Max finished outside the top 10 was 2016.

#3569

I like how they followed Hamilton running down Russell for 10 laps and then never showed him passing George.  Good job broadcast team.

My favorite was talking about how far up the order he made it from the starting grid and ignoring LEC entirely, who started behind Lewis and finished ahead of him and on the podium

They didn’t ignore LEC. LEC got driver of the day. Passed 5 cars in one swoop on lap one. They showed the replay multiple times through the race. 18 to 3rd - it was a great drive.

On the last lap and right after the race.

There is and has basically always been a pro UK driver slant to the announcers man. Come on.

#3574

They didn't ignore Leclerc. It was one of the main themes of the race.  And the reason they didn't show Hamilton's last lap pass was because Norris crossed the finish line about when it happened. Lots of ins outs and what have yous.

#3576

They had Hamilton’s pass on the side bar at the end. A replay on the main screen would have been nice.

#3577

Yeah one of the most important passes of the day, and we didn't even get a replay.  That was strange.

#3578

I’m no fan of Hamilton’s, as I have stated numerous times. I think that car was just so dominant that I don’t consider him the greatest driver of all time. The most successful in victories, yes but, not statistically so. I’m a Schumacher fan, always was and always will be. Right now Hamilton’s winning percentage is at 29.49% and Schumacher is at 29.73%.

I too notice the broadcasters showing a bit too much preferential treatment towards Hamilton but, I get it. He’s one of them. He’s their guy and I understand that. When Schumacher was at his pinnacle the German media was head over heels in love with him.

On my list, in no particular order although I still think because of winning percentage #1 has to be Fangio, then Schummi, Senna, Clark and Hamilton.

I enjoyed the race yesterday. It would have been fun to see LeClerc get to start up front and have a nice battle with Norris. Amazed at how fucking awful Perez has finished. Stroll sucks mightily. For some reason I kind of like Gasly and wish him success, although I hate that car’s pink livery. I am really anxious to see winter testing with Hamilton at Ferrari. That is going to extremely entertaining.

The off-season will be fun.

Just heard from my friend who knows F1 things .... Colapinto confirmation announcement incoming soon. That's all he said, and I didn't press for more.

ETA: I think RB.

You left someone off the list when it comes to win rate.

not at all saying he's better than Schumi or Lewis. But statistically he's had a better career than a ton of guys included in most people's top 5. Dude is extremely hateable for sure, but he's fucking incredible.

That is the speculation. I’d rather see Hadjar get a chance over Colapinto, but oh well. We’ll see.

That’s what makes arguing about this stuff a lot of fun. Everyone’s list will have some differences from other folks and their lists. Solid arguments can be made for a lot of guys. I’m not a Max Hater. I think his dad, and I remember him as a driver, is a jagoff. I will defer to my German relatives who don’t like Max, because he is Dutch. That’s it. He’s Dutch, so, we don’t like him. 🤣

Oh, I forgot. One reason I like Schumacher so much is that he did it with three different engines and two teams.

Fangio won with four different teams/engines Mercedes, Alfa, Maserati and Ferrari. The Germans also like to say how much Schummi helped build up Mercedes, which Hamilton benefitted from, before he finally retired. I have read a bit about that and feel it needs more serious study.

Hamilton won all seven of his titles with a Mercedes engine. I think all four of Senna’s were Honda, and, if I remember correctly Vettel’s were powered by Renault.

I think the way it took Schumacher, Brawn and Todt so long to rebuild Ferrari, cuz it was shit, is incredible when he could have been winning a shit ton of races with another team.

It’s just fun to discuss because there are a lot of valid arguments.

Pretty sure they’re testing during the daytime only, which is totally different conditions to when they qualify and race.

Also, the tires may be different. Basically, it’s hard to compare these times to anything from the race weekend.

People are saying Hadjar to RB. And apparently there's South American press saying Colapinto to Alpine. Also, there's gossip that Colapinto & his management have started following the IndyCar & LeMans pages on s/m. Not sure there's much to that, but who knows. I was told it's F1 tho.

And oh yeah, I forgot this bit earlier. I was told it is not Cadillac or Williams.

ETA: I was told just now that it's either Alpine or RB.

There was some gossip about Briatore booting Ocon early to have Doohan race in AD to “fulfill” his contract, so that they could then boot him for Colapinto, but it all seems a bit much.

But then again, it is Briatore……the dude should still be banned.

Has sainz even had to race in a night time sec environment? I don’t think so.
