With all that's on the line for Checo and RBR...why didn't he pull slightly left at all??????

Sainz had the wall moving in on him, which is why the racing line moves slightly left.

You could definitely see this one coming. 30 laps riding LeClerc's tail before Checo fails to get clear of him when he finally attempts a pass with DRS and has to take the outside line, leaving the door open for Sainz. From feeling like he was a lock for 2nd to off the podium in 4 seconds. I bet he was fuming. There was no way he was giving and inch to Sainz.

Sains deliberately wrecked Checo.
Lol. Other way around.
Also did Danny Ric do 50/51 laps on the hards? That's horrific strategy from VCARB
Yeah. Apparently he did his fastest lap of the race on lap 40. Their strategy is terribad.

They were so close that Sainz's tire was actually in between Sergio's front and rear.  The tires touched front to back and that's why Sainz jerked to the left so suddenly.

Fantastic race. Unfortunate ending. Piastri is a superstar in the making.

Yep. I still say Piastri is the next Alonso.

Live, it sure looked like Sainz came across into Checo.  The replays I've seen make it look more 50/50.

Yep. Good 'no call' imho. Racing incident. Checo left very little room even though Sainz was clearly ahead. Sainz couldn't see Checo well, but Checo could see everything, and they both moved slightly toward each other ... but only because they were on different exit lines. As far as I can tell, they were both steering dead straight. If I had a gun to my head and had to assign a penalty, it would be on Checo, not Sainz, he could easily see what was about to happen, and did nothing to stop it. Sainz was on the same exit line he'd taken all race.

I know some deflection is allowed and is measured in park firme. No clue if that is within the allowance or not... Like if they figured out a way to pass testing but have it deflect more in race conditions.

Yep, but in the past when teams did this, they devised a new test to control it. This year it's 'Nothing to see here. Move along'.

I think that was exactly the stewards decision. They said Sainz followed his previous lap telemetry almost exactly.

Oh yeah, fantastic drive by Fernando today. Dude is amazing.

Edit: I know, Perez should have moved left

Red Bull can't keep Checo in that seat, can they?  Holy hell, now he's not only not scoring points but he's racking up millions of dollars of rebuild costs from binning the car.  He was already leading the Destructor's Championship before yesterday.  That will add another million or so to the tally.

they should give Jos a shot.

Who knows what they will do.  They have even managed to get worse at pit stops which they have been the best at for years.  The team is a mess.

Yeah the pitstops falling apart is really a mystery. Is that all just team morale? Are they mentally broken now?

You seem to ignore all the great work Lance Stroll is doing to help make Alonzo's car that much better.

I don't get it.

At least they wouldn’t have those pesky fireball inducing fuel stops to worry about.

3 days before FP1 and there is heavy rain and wind here. So much they they wouldn't race. I am hoping for a miracle. Friday is already at 60% rain chance.

My walk home has been fun. Note, I live about 2km from the track

The Gus Johnson And Joe Tessatore school of F1 announcing. How awesome would it be to have Gus doing these races?

Great, unflappable driver. Dude is also hilarious with his deadpan one liners.

My brother lived in Taiwan for 30 years and their weather could sure be nutty. One trip to Hong Kong we were the last plane out of the old Kai Tak Airport and the wind was blowing so hard it looked like our plane was flapping its wings. I was very uneasy at that. That whole Pacific Rim has some crazy weather.

Hopefully it calms down a bit.

Not sure about the timing tor this race but it does seem like this season will be his last.

I'd like to see Danny go race IMSA GTP or GTD Pro if he's not going to be in F1.  Hell, I'd start watching Aussie V8 if he raced there too - seems like that would fit his late braking style.

He can still be their guy at PR events and driving demos, while racing on the side still. It will suck to not have him on the grid though.

Danny in NASCAR would be epic. I think he would do a better job than Kimi and a huge personality for it.

He could absolutely be the spokesperson for rbr racing and an ambassador to Red Bull sports in general I’d say. I don’t know how his ego and competitive spirit will tolerate that over being in the drive though.

15 years ago, I might agree.  NASCAR today seems like it sucks.

Red Bull NASCAR team could be fun.

Roughly 24 hours until FP1. 60% chance of rain. 65% on Saturday. 0% on Sunday. It might be a wild qualifying. Maybe put money on Hamilton and Alonso[emoji23]

I took tomorrow off on mental health leave, because why not? See you at the track.

It is time, but he will be missed

Not sure why they didn't run this livery in Canada

No rain, but hot as fuck

I got row 3 aisle seat on fast s curve. Not bad. I’ve never sat here before.

Lol. Some chick just crashed and the track announcer said "images of Lance Stroll here"

Mercedes livery looks really sharp. FP1 has started

Really wish they could keep him on until after the USGP.  He's always so much fun in Austin.

Peter Bayer made a point this morning that decisions being made are for the 2025 season and that this will not be his last race. It sounds like it will be his last season with everything that is being said but who knows at this point. I’ve also read that there is a stipulation in Lawson’s contract about needing to drive at least 5 races this season or else Red Bull loses him and he becomes a free agent.

I left the last concert 30 mins early and on the way home the biblical rain hit. In Texas we would call it a flash flood. I'm glad OneRepublic pissed me off, so I only got 95% soaked

Not sure what was up with Max and Hamilton's form..

Hamilton said something along the lines of the way they were asking him to drive was not going to work.

I think even this site would agree that every race that Daniel Ricciardo has had on Red Bull's developmental team over the past two years has made zero practical sense, and continuing to put him out there is outright team negligence.

Right and although Marko said VCARB is its own thing now, it was obvious what should have happened after Danny got hurt last year and Lawson showed what he could do. The summer break didn’t help Red Bull either.

Overcast today. Just humid so far.
