Week 14, 2023, Texas v Washington, College Football Playoff Edition

I like Washington usually but now I hate them and want them to die.  I hate that they beat us last year, I hate their great stadium and I hate their non pretentious coach.  I hate them so much.
Their non pretentious coach who told aggy to keep their money and go pound sand, gotta respect that at least.

This is all weak bullshit. I said people giving Sarkisian the benefit of the doubt were welcome to it, but there was no history with him to support it, in 2021 and 2022. I stand by that position. I sa

Tits McGee

Seattle fucking sucks compared to Austin.
I stand by that comment. At least until we play them

So... can we hire someone that can teach our dbs how to cover?

Is it crazy to think losing Brooks helped us offensively?

I think we just became so committed to inside-zone that we weren't willing to be more versatile which makes us more dangerous offensively. See Texas Tech and Oklahoma State the last 2 weekends.

Getting Ryan Watts healthy will be a big boost.

I am in this mother fucker!!! Just for the lol, has:

-Baker said anything

-what are the ags thought

-do we really have to give Yormack any of the playoff money

-has anyone checked in what that dude from ISU has to say

-fuck OU

Guys, everything I said was complete bullshit. Can we still be bros?

-CTJ, probably

A month to get healthy. A month to plan for Sark. An opponent he knows and respects. I respect Kalen DeBoer. Good guy and HC. We are pretty evenly matched. They win close games ugly as well. I expect a close one. Hook’em! I am so damned happy!!!

I haven’t watched them too closely

Good offense. Meh defense?

That needs to be the extent of your predictions for the next month. I don’t want to hear a word from you about what you think of Michael Penix.

Pretty much. #30 defense per the ESPN efficiency metric.

They're the only team in the playoffs with a defensive or offensive unit outside the top 25.

Dammit! I obviously need to increase my Buying Drinks For Other People From Out of Town budget significantly for 2024.

We just made the playoffs after almost ALMOST 2 DECADES OF SHIT! LFG! Need watts to get better and obviously need worthy 100% but I’d imagine there’s plenty of time for everyone to get back.

CTJ still reserves the right to hate Sark and think that he's not the guy if we don't win the whole thing.

Let’s see how game goes vs Washington when two of the best players for Texas on offense aren’t sitting out.

Rematch baby

I'm a little surprised at the opening odds (-4.5). Wonder what it'll be at kick off.

Yes.

Is AD Mitchell the first player to play for 2 different teams in the college playoffs?

Overall, Washington shows a Team Talent Level of 26th in the country, with zero five star players. Obviously Odunze and Penix are playing at the five star level, but so are a bunch of our guys.

When both teams are equally motivated and prepared, most often talent level wins. Add to that, both our offensive and defensive lines are probably a lot more stout than Washington's.

Sark woke up. He saw that he was turtling this offense - maybe he was trying to control mistakes, but dammit, he was being too conservative. He's unleashed the hounds of hell (offensively). He's gonna let the Big Dog Eat

Just a reminder that our "shitty pass D" has given up 30 points twice this season - and in one of those games we kept handing K State the ball on our side of the field.

Penix is a different animal but let's see if UW can stop us with a month to prepare.

I agree that it could be a shootout - but let's give our defense a bit more credit because they deserve it. I don't expect Jahdae to be as shitty in coverage as he was yesterday.

Their offensive line is legit but their DL has been a major dissapointment this year.

Can't do both games, but when we take down Mush, Huskies, Mush! my brother and nephew and I are jetting down to Houston, took a chance and bought tix a few months ago.

Why is the Rose Bowl before the Sugar Bowl?

.... I guess I need something to complain about

Something about bars & restaurants in the area, came down to waitress strength of schedule.

Another thing to consider for the secondary: Derek Williams will miss the first half of the Sugar Bowl since his targeting ejection was on the opening kickoff of the second half.

We can appeal that right? That replay is a joke. Personal foul, maybe. Targeting? Nope.

I have zero intention of being a gracious winner about getting into the CFP. :D

Gerry Hamilton explained that the punishment can be carried over to the next season due to this game being the playoffs.

Gerry said something interesting about Derek Williams in that he won't miss the CFP and that Texas can take that suspension to the 1st game of next season according to the NCAA rules.

He was in line for the doak walker award and had been rushing for over 100 yards per game. So... yes. While Blue has been a revelation, he only rushed for 33 yards vs Ok State.

Woah, I didn't know that. That's fantastic.

Ok so Williams targeting last game I thought I read where he could sit out fist half game next season and play in the playoffs a full game.  I am not sure where that post was but does anyone know the correct answer.

never mind answered above

Losing Brooks hurt no doubt, but it certainly feels like it forced Sarkisian to have more of a RB by committee. Blue and K. Robinson got more snaps and it probably was something that opponents were not able to scheme for. For example, who knew that Blue could actually run well in between the tackles?
