Growing up my dad was always my summer league coach. We threw the ball and I hit the ball for hours in our backyard and on the field. I had the opportunity to play baseball at the collegiate level but

You would think this movie would suck, but it's actually pretty good.  At least on par with SatB.

I think I had Kris on my list every year until this year. I decided to go only with celebrities who shared names with other celebrities so I could get two for 1. Hasn't worked.

Kris Kristofferson was a badass at life. RIP

One of the greatest songs, ever. An elegy. Modern scripture. From an amazing writer and a good and decent man.
Fuck this shit.

I chose one from around today, because the present is when she's finally gonna realize what she's been missing and get down with ole Brisket.

But all versions of Helen are perfection.  One of the most stunning women to ever live.

Please stop posting about her in this thread.

Got to see Kris about 5-6 years ago at the Waco Hippodrome.  Put on a pretty badass show for a man his age and I’m happy as hell we made a point to be there.

My first arctic patrol we had 2 movies that ran every night for 2 months. Convoy and Mr. Billion.

I have made it a point never to watch either ever again.

I never liked any of the teams he played for outside of those GTown teams, but I loved watching him.  Way too fucking soon.

the finger wag is a classic

Always loved how the NBA banned the finger wag except Mutombo was grandfathered in to continue it.

Motumbo was neighbors with a doctor I used to work with/for in Atlanta.  That doctor also died too young, also from cancer.

He was a total dick.

But he was really, really good at baseball.

Grade-A piece of shit according to my Grandpa that worked security for the visitor’s dugout in the Astrodome way back in the day.

Hate seeing Mutombo here, he really helped a lot of people.

CSB - the wife and I were at a Blimpie eating outside about 5 years ago when a Rolls Royce pulled up to the curb to go the dry cleaner next door.  You don't see a Rolls Royce everyday, so cool, but then this giant human gets out of the car, and then he fully stood up, just insane.  At the time they had begun replaying the commercial with him blocking groceries at the store, so even my wife knew who he was.  We didn't bother him, but he knew we knew, and gave us a nice smile and a wave.

I'm very saddened to see this, not because I'm a big hoops guy, but because I know of his efforts to help others.

Major League Baseball is heartbroken to hear of the passing of Pete Rose.Use code “PETEROSE” to get $1,000 first bet insurance for the 2024 MLB Postseason with BetMGM, proudly serving as an official gambling partner of Major League Baseball.

Beverly Hills Cop wouldn’t have been the same without John Ashton who heroically had to pinch his face to hold back laughter as Eddie Murphy made up this hilarious story about super cops

Had to add this. I also loved him in Some Kind of Wonderful in addition to Midnight Run.

he really is fighting the laughter in this scene. Never noticed.

Dikembe Mutombo had an amazing personality. Here he is talking about his love for the Three Stooges with Conan O'Brien who then gets him to suck helium out of a balloon so he can try a Curly impression.
