UT vs LSU - Halal Guys Showcase (Toyota Center) @ 11am ESPN2

Listening to the post game show interview, it seems like Disu reads Surly.

I've not watched too many basketball games, but... is it me or were the announcers pretty much rooting for LSU?

They root for the underdog and the team playing from a large deficit.  Also they love bandwagons that have 30 point scorers.

I don't think it's a bad take.

You added Abmas as a scorer, you added Weaver as the defender/rebounder, you added Horton as a 3 point shooter. It's not a bad take as much as it's bad roster management so far. Stop playing the two bad defensive guards together and utilize Weaver.

A guy that can hit a couple 3s off the bench still has plenty of value if utilized correctly.

yeah.  he's a one year dude.  If we took him instead of someone else then maybe it's a bad take but you won't know.

you have to find a lineup and matchup where you can kind of hide him defensively by help.

hopefully he hits some big 3's for us in conference.

Horton has been a one year dude everywhere he goes.

Unfortunately I had to clear up some stuff at the office today.  It looks like Disu was more productive than we could have possibly hoped for -- 17 pts in 20 minutes?  How healthy does he look?

Seemed like he was in full playing shape, but I'm really the wrong person to say anything.

You're on Surly.   You can talk about any topic with authority and impunity.

Because the strategy of other teams right now is to hedge our guards hard (Abmas and Hunter).

While it gives Abmas issues at times, it also leads to wide open looks for our bigs. The difference is Disu is much better at finishing than Shedrick.

Falafel is shit. I honestly have never seen anyone finish an order.

The first play they over help on Hunter. Easy basket for Disu.

Teams have been hedging like this all year on our top 2 guards. It will be interesting if they keep doing this or just live with Disu dropping 25 on them.

He looked fine but I think he's not quite in playing shape. Hence the low minutes and coming off the bench.

Weaver plays with maximum effort all the time.

I was going to say that he appears to be a shorter, but much more explosive Cunningham.

Seems like Weaver is much like Cunningham in that they aren’t stars but are winning players. Obviously a much more toolsy version. Having two of those guys on the team will serve us well in when conference play really gets going.

I think that Weaver is feeling his way with the other guards out there right now.

Aßmas is a 5th year senior and an all-time 3 point stud. Hunter is a junior who expects the ball in his hands for a lot of every possession.

Weaver is bigger and more explosive than both of them, but for now the offense doesn’t run through him. For now he’s a defensive specialist whose time will come on the offense…

…and it will be fun when that time comes.
