October 26, 20241 yr LT takes second half kickoff and drives straight down field averaging about 9 yards a play. Westlake makes a few first downs and punts. LT starts driving, all momentum with them, then Westlake jumps a route and gets a pick 6. 21-10, start of 4q
October 26, 20241 yr Richland 35Aledo 28 Start of 4thAledo had the ball 1st & 10 on the 15 going in and Finley got held up and stripped at the 5.
October 26, 20241 yr Down in the RGV, Weslaco Panthers lead PSJA 14-7. But more importantly, the Weslaco Softball team had a ceremony at halftime to receive their State Championship rings! (If y'all remember, the state championship game made national news after Weslaco won on a walk off grand slam)
October 26, 20241 yr Hitchcock 30, Columbus 22.  4 minutes left. Columbus to kick off.  Edited October 26, 20241 yr by orangeut

October 26, 20241 yr Overtime. Did they change HS OT too? Third OT you go in from the three trading plays?

October 26, 20241 yr 125!!!!!48-42 Aledo 49-42. @msucolt45 couple questions1. Did they change the HS along with college? Must go for 2 in second OT then trading 2pt plays starting in third OT?2. In OT Aledo held Richland to 0 points. Got the ball and scored a TD. Is the game not over at that point? Refs had the field cleared and Aledo had to attempt the XP.
October 26, 20241 yr The game should’ve ended, once determined that there was no penalty during the course/action of the TD play.Hook’em!!!
October 26, 20241 yr Salado over Jarrell was a (slight) upset that actually helps muddy up the District standings. Wimberly is still far and away the favorite to take the title, but 2-4 are still up for grabs. Lago Vista and Navarro face off next week and that will bring it even more to bright. The 4 seed could get interesting. October 26, 20241 yr I was a 1/4 mile away watching the Chaps sweep LT in VB. Good night for the chaps.

LT has a huge commitment from the school district and over 4,500 more students in the district than Westlake. They way out-gained Westlake, and were done in by stupid mistakes. Westlake coaches are the difference. I wonder when LTISD decides Coach Carter should maybe 'pursue other opportunities?'Â
October 27, 20241 yr East Texas coach suspended for season and gets two years of probation for illegally taping other teams games. https://kicks105.com/uil-palestine-westwood-verdict/
October 27, 20241 yr Lampasas, as expected before the season started, lost to Stephenville 42-31. These two teams are likely going to meet again in the regional finals. If Lampasas gets to this game they will win the rematch. The Jackets are a really good 4A team, blowout loss to a far more talented Ruston, LA team in non-district notwithstanding. They are the prohibited favorite in Region 1. I had Lampasas pegged as being 8-2 or 9-1 depending upon if they beat Wimberley. I did not count on the Reed Jerome injury that got them their first loss. If they can establish the ground game and keep the defense off the field as much as possible they’ve got four more wins in them. Big if on that though as that defense is prone to giving up yards in big chunks at times. Been a fun season watching them from a distance though. One of the best things to come out of Covid is that more high school games are broadcast. Edited October 27, 20241 yr by UpperWestside

I contend that it's a valid comparison. Both programs start their kids in the high school play calling system at Pop Warner, so huge numbers of kids are already learning the plays. Plus, this means you have a much larger group of wealthy families contributing money to the program, even when they don't have kids on the team. Couple all this with the high number of former athletes who live in Lake Travis and you should have a huge advantage at LT. The fact that Westlake has owned them for the past seven seasons is amazing. Â
October 28, 20241 yr But you’re like the only person who talks about it in that context at all. The head coach isn’t responsible for how many elementary they have. As a small school guy, I shrug my shoulders at the notion of a school with 1000 boys attending being at some disadvantage.  Schools all over the state are in Districts with similar disparity in ADM and do just fine.  The 7 year run is amazing, especially given the tradition and overall competitiveness by both programs. Edited October 28, 20241 yr by Iceman
