Is this serious? How would that make any sense?

Of course it’s serious. Understand that they haven’t been with the team at all for the season, but are they eligible to suit out and play on special teams?  Or anything?

They have to be enrolled. Classes won't start until after the playoffs.

They are not students and it's winter break.

The main rule prohibiting transfers from playing is that players aren't allowed to play for two different teams in the same season. Playoff games are considered the same season as the regular season.

Maybe it’s been mentioned in other threads, but the lack of O line players is really disturbing. It’s like they didn’t give a shit.

The main rule is they MUST be students of the university.

I'll let you know if/when it is time to be upset about the offensive line.

Except, of course, that you're wrong. They must be students of the new university, but that's not what's making them ineligible. They can become students of the new university in several ways.

If he has signed with the new school, then it will depend on whether he has actually become a student athlete, either by receiving a housing check, started classes, practiced with the new team, etc.

There is a rule, however, against transferring and playing in a bowl for a new team. Unless a waiver is obtained (it almost never is). A player cannot play for two schools in the same season. And a bowl game counts as the same season.

This is wrong. The NCAA doesn't want players transferring solely to play in the NC game. Every transfer (and graduating senior) would want to come to UT so that they could play and win against against the winner of Michigan/Alabama.

Bobby Burton reporting the 5 HS signees that will not be early enrollees are:

  • Nate Kibble
  • Santana Wilson
  • Melvin Hills III
  • Freddie Dubose Jr
  • Michael Kern

18 of 23 early signees from HS

21 of 26 will be at Texas this spring when transfers are included.

Dubose is an early enrollee and confirmed by the release sent out by the university.
