Wouldn’t Google just contribute to trumps super pac to get the case dropped?

Good question.  These suits against bigtech all actually started during Trump I.  He's done a fair share of demonizing bigtech.

Trying to order some shit from Lowes to get it delivered.

Have to create an account. Created one three times, did their verification. Nope, there is a problem with registration. Well what the fuck is the problem? They don't say what it is.

Well guess someone else will get my business.

Why, back in the day, guys would have to cut a picture of a celeb out of a People magazine and actually jerk off on it.

Lazy kids and their technology these days.

Also....of people didn't foresee AI being immediately used for eleventy billion particular perversions, those people haven't been paying attention to what folks call "the entire history of the entire internet."

Oh I am batting a thousand dealing with this shit.

Amazon. Fuck them. I try not to buy from them, but sometimes no one else around here has it. In this case solar powered fans for the quail and chicken hutches. Yep, they arrived. Smashed to shit.

Refund? nah, I can spend 30% of the cost to send them back, or take them. Forget that their driver goes to down my street 5 times a day. Nope, cannot just print a label and leave it out there.

So fuck them. Off to harbor freight to get replacement panels. My vision of a quail taj majal and the poulty palace will not be defeated by that crappy rocket making, ugly wife having, censoring dick fuck known as Bezos.

I mean.....it's also in the middle of ass-nowhere.  Transport costs alone add a shitload.

Also, back in the day, he coulda held out till Kramer Junction, right before he got to Boron.  Was a great burger joint there, Astro Burger, but I think it's gone now.

Yeah, I filled up in baker or somewhere more than 20 years ago on the way from LA to Vegas and it's still the most I've ever paid for gas.

Seriously? Fuck these people. This is important information for me as a consumer. Even if I didn't care about the planet, which I do, I'm gonna care about the size of my power bill. Hand wash your clothes and hang them on the line to dry if you really care.

dryers in much of the world suck so bad i have to imagine most of the efficiency gains are from people deciding to line dry

Most of Mexico line dries. My girlfriend had never seen a clothes dryer (or a disposal or dishwasher) until she met me. She really dislikes using the one in my house here and claims air drying makes clothes feel softer, which is a huge load of shit.

Yeah, gas prices in the middle of nowhere do not really fall under enshittening? Unless you just want to throw a lob at California because it's easy and fun.

We line dry. Unless its just a wet, drizzly, foggy day, it dries at least as quickly, if not quicker, on the line than in the dryer.

My kids have both messed around with AI generated writing in both academic and work contexts.  Both of them are pretty dismissive, saying that it's fine for elementary stuff that requires no real thought (form-letter type writing), but for anything that requires any real analysis, 1) it's not that good, and 2) it is glaringly obvious that it's AI.

Which should probably be something at the top of every high school and college syllabus: if you try to use AI to do your work for you, know that 1) it's not that good (so, it would get a mediocre grade), and 2) it's generally obvious as hell that it's AI (meaning that you'll get a failing grade, because I'll spot it and give your paper an F).

Totally not surprised by this; I used to frequent several blogs for recipes and cocktails and not all that long ago had noticed that even blogs that were not Face/insta/pin type platforms were getting raided/copied and it made wading through that a monetized nightmare. Only have one or two reliable  faves bookmarked now and since I don't use the socials, have managed to avoid the crazy.

I watched AI invade other areas as well and it is enshittifying a lot of creative spaces. Sort of like a lot of tech tools wherein, the original idea is great but humans manage to mess it up at some point by inserting it where it ought not to be.

Cancer drug that costs $0.25 to manufacture now goes for over $800 a dose.

This was the point in the @propublica.org story on pricey cancer drug Revlimid where i got angry. The price has gone up 26 TIMES since 2006. Yet, @davidarmstrongx.bsky.social found a deposition where a top exec admits the drug has ALWAYS cost just $.25 to make. https://www.propublica.org/article/revlimid-price-cancer-celgene-drugs-fda-multiple-myeloma?utm_source=bluesky&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=propublica-bsky&utm_content=cm

"Paging Luigi to the white courtesy phone..."

Read the CNBC story on United Healthcare being sued by its shareholders because, in the wake of the CEO’s killing….

“The group, which is seeking unspecified damages, argued that the public backlash prevented the company from pursuing “the aggressive, anti-consumer tactics that it would need to achieve” its earnings goals.”

“Aggressive, anti-consumer tactics” aren’t just a thing we do, they are LITERALLY A LEGAL OBLIGATION. America is fully enshittened.

We the people find Luigi "Not Guilty"

#1999

His Lawyers closing argument:

Is my client guilty of stomping on turtles? Yes.

Is he guilty of sucking up ghosts with a vacuum cleaner? Also yes.

Does he drive like a manic and have an issue with road rage? Sure, but who doesn't get a little steamed in traffic?

None of that makes him a murderer. Maybe the turtles, but as we showed you, he was stomping those turtles in self-defense.

Most importantly, I want to remind you that the prosecution introduced video evidence of a silent shooter. Silent.

But we've shown you clear evidence that my client is simply unable to enter a scene without announcing himself.

Whoever the shooter is, he is completely silent. You never hear the shooter say "ima Luigi", because it wasn'ta Luigi.

Defense rests.

I flew/drove my MIL from Vegas to Ridgecrest CA last June to visit her dying sister.  Turns out I drove right by Yermo, didn't notice.

That whole area of the Mojave makes west Texas look like a verdant rainforest with infinite variation in topology and geology.  God Almighty, that drive was hallucinatory.
