“you cheated.”

”well I won't say I did and I won't say I didn't, but I will say that a man who wouldn't cheat for a poke don't want one bad enough.”

I hate rude behavior in a man. I won't tolerate it.

"My wife is in Hell, where I sent her.  She could make good biscuits, but her behavior was terrible."

"I think this is our man."

TLJ was 43 when they made that show. 43! Duvall was 58. Lane was 24. She’s the same age now that Duvall was then.

I was 17

Nobody likes a dentist anyway.

Lulz.  I saw this quote the other day on here.  Didn't recall it.  Randomly decided to watch Lonesome Dove for the first time since, oh, 1997.  There it is.  Love this series, but the geography is driving me crazy.  I'm guessing the series had to speed up the book - hence Gus seemingly ending up in the panhandle (Llano Estacado) just after Lane's character gets taken outside of San Antonio.

He didn’t free Messicans anyway, Bol.

The only TV we have at the ranch is a crappy TV/VCR combo I picked up at a pawn shop with Lonesome Dove playing on a loop.  I've seen it eleventy billion times.  Never gets old.

I just finished the book a couple of days ago. Started watching the mini series yesterday. That's one thing that bothered me even in the book - some of the distances traveled in a short period of time on horseback. Also sometimes the geography is just plain wrong - mainly in regards to certain rivers' proximity/orientation to the towns/cities. My guess is that he was liberal in his use of "east" or "west" just as they probably were back then. That's how I justified it to my own brain.

Got it.  I hate when folks pick nits, so I try not to do so.  They just about criss-crossed the state when heading north.

In reading about McMuttry, paint me surprised that he also wrote Terms of Endearment.  I had no idea.  Also, funny side note that you probably already know since you read the book.  The original town of Lonesome Dove was actually located in modern Southlake.  Weird.

Just noticed the actress who plays Janey is the hot chick that Adam Sandler bangs in Airheads. Also Joe was in "It", and Jasper was in Top Gun.

Dad gave us Lonesome Dove and The Last Picture Show. Son gave us Choctaw Bingo and Blackberry Winter.
Not bad.

Well... just read that both TLJ and Danny Glover were 43 when they filmed the movie. I'm about to be 42. I guess some people just age differently.

if you ever bring that damned old tongue of yours north of the canadian river i’ll cut it off, and feed it to my wolf pups.

I’d like to see the herd you and Jake Spoon could gather.  Herd o’ whores, maybe.

My favorite part of that exchange is that Gus simply agrees with Call.  Grins and grunts with affirmation.

You probably shouldn't watch 1883 then.

Too late.  I'm still scarred from the, "Let's make out under a tornado" scene.
