Those pics above are making me nervous that I'm going to get a text tomorrow at 6:30AM saying "due to u foreseen circumstances we don't have one fucking item in stock for your order. " I have a pickup for 8:30 tonight and it says they had everything including extra firelogs which I thought would have been hopeless.

BTW, last night I was having a conversation with one of the higher-ranking judges in the State of Texas. Our conversation turned to 80s movies, and she commented that she recently re-watched Top Gun, and she opined that it was cringey bad. I told her "damn, judge....I've disagreed with some of your opinions before, but that was just about the law. This is shit that really matters -- how could you be so wrong?" And then she pronounced sentence and you were remanded to custody? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Oh, and since we're posting menus. Grilled chicken and Sausage Gumbo Smoked Chuck Roast and Baby Back Ribs Meatballs and Pork Chops in reserve and, because, like Troph, I've got teenaged male kids at home, 4 gallons of milk and 72 eggs also on reserve. Basically, a slightly extended version of the shopping run that ordinarily goes down on Sunday. If the power goes down, I'm either burning charcoal or using my only propane device, the Ooni Pizza Oven. We may see how handles meatballs and various vegetables or make a bunch of focaccia bread. January 13, 20241 yr My wife was supposed to go to HEB today, but didn’t. Are we fucked? Luckily I’ve at least got a ton of backpacking food if things really got desperate.

Just a bunch of stupid and annoying people in the way. Which makes no sense. because the temps on Monday/Tuesday are still going to be about 5-10 higher than the level they keep the thermostat in that store.

January 13, 20241 yr Just threw a brisket on. Going to water my plants and wrap my faucets today when it warms up then sit by the fire for two days and make the kids watch Lonesome Dove.
January 13, 20241 yr I didn’t even think about going to the store in Houston since I’m reading that we will be below 32 for 12 hours at the longest stretch. But of course that means Houstonians will treat this as Armageddon.
January 13, 20241 yr Yeah, just got my curbside & everything was there. The gal who dropped them off told me that people were there shopping at 6AM when she showed up for her shift but nothing too crazy so far (Lakeline & 183).
January 13, 20241 yr We got one of those big ass Costco pizzas. We'll be able to make that last a few days for 2 of us.

January 13, 20241 yr Amarillo checking in at 16 degrees and very light flurries. Feels like temp is ZERO degrees.
January 13, 20241 yr I've got a pound of pork, pound o chicken, and a bucket of chili. The Dog refuses to come inside which means it's about to get really fucking cold.
January 13, 20241 yr 11° in Amarillo right now. Doesn’t look like it will get much worse than that, low of 8°.
January 13, 20241 yr Not quite as cold, but seeing that after a brief warmup Wednesday and Thursday, most of the state will get down to well below freezing next weekend as well. After that, final full week of the month looking like what I call "pho weather" (temps mostly in the 50's and daily rain chances).
January 13, 20241 yr We've got a whole fryer in the crockpot that will be used for tortilla soup tomorrow. Tonight is pork stir fry and chocolate brownies for dessert (had to pick up some Samuel Smith's Chocolate Stout for the recipe). We've got an assortment of other soups & stews in the freezer ready to reheat as needed.
January 13, 20241 yr Heb is The Woodlands is no issue at all. Well stocked and not too crowded. Potato Soup up tonight for dinner.
January 13, 20241 yr If you have a backflow preventer installed on your sprinkler system, be sure to cut the water feed, drain the BFP, and cycle the valves. Last part may not be necessary, but I run a quick cycle of 1m at each zone just to cycle after the water is off and with the drain valves open.

January 13, 20241 yr Realize most of this is Austin centric but the temps over the coming days are not exactly out of bounds for DFW. Now ERCOT and its merry band of idiot enablers can always fuck shit up but outside that pretty normal deal here https://www.weather.gov/fwd/d32data

January 13, 20241 yr Lines at Lakeway HEB were 10 people deep.Beef Bourgion Sunday Broccoli Cheese Soup MondayWhite people tacos tonight.
January 13, 20241 yr Wife you got back from HEB, said it was a mess with lines down the aisles. No propane tanks to be found without driving out to Spicewood. I have a tank and probably a half on hand, so not really worried about it.
