Bidenomics is winning

Politics breaks brains. There is not a single person I talk to in real life that thinks the current climate is winning. YMMV.

Lol I bet you hang with a crowd of Gary Johnson voters who pretend they voted for Willie Nelson or whatever

Are they all white?

yes, we know republicans always think the economy is in the shitter any time a (D) is in office and great any time an (R) is in office, regardless of the actual performance of the economy.

It was a interesting stream of conversations across professional and personal interactions, but conversations literally just today. Chinese, Indian, White, Mexican, South American. A mix of professional W2 stiffs like me and a buddy from HS that owns his own landscape business. The latter was the most vocal in terms of couching it in the political terms directly relevant. But there was widespread consensus that the trajectory over the last few years ain't sustainable.

CR is full of very vocal clowns many of which seem to have no connection to reality.

You talk to people with broken brains. I am in an industry that is an absolute north star for the economy and I have never seen anything like I have seen in the last month. Money is flowing and confidence is high. From the mega corps to the small time folks. I deal with them all and the floodgates have opened.

Maybe. Grab a seat at any table in any bar in this country and strike up a conversation. Report back where that lands.

How many teenagers are you having to deal with now that weren’t teenagers 5-8 years ago?

Dude the data is out there.

I think that there is a disconnect between the data and the sentiment. Just my opinion. I don't think that it translates to the ballot box, so I still think that Kamala is going to run away with this. But again, I am not having any conversations with people that are doing backflips about the economic climate they feel day to day. Maybe I am just no running in the right circles.

So the people using data points are clowns. The sentiments of the random people you talk to "at bars" are what matters. Got it.

Yeah dude, stupid people are stupid. Water is wet.

Rural Republicans vote for the people who literally do the least and most horrific things to them. People are morons.

None of these conversations were in a bar, and data are obviously always relevant. How those data points translate, or do not, to the sentiments and lived experiences of real people running the treadmill matter.  Not surprised by the push back, but quite comfortable with my comments.

You should go into political consultancy. Nobody that I talked to today was stupid by any measure, objective or subjective. Again, politics breaking brains.

If your friends can't understand how they have more money and can do more shit and buy nicer shit and buy more of that nicer shit think they are worse off they are in fact stupid by every measure.

I think a lot of people are figuring out kids consume more as they get older, coupled with increases in prices across the board cause nobody fought back hard enough against the corporate messaging about being “in this together.”

They're the same ones driving $85,000 trucks that get 14 MPG and bitch about the price of gas being too high.

Forget it, Jake. It's Anastasis-town.

It's up to debate who is in fact stupid here. I appreciate that it is anathema to this crowd to roll out there that daily cost of living is insane right now compared to recent past, cause it will be interpreted in political terms and orange man is bad. It's crazy to point out that people are feeling a pinch at basically every level of "fixed expense". It's crazy to suggest that data on 401k millionaires is fundamentally meaningless to people in the here and now, and that any of that influences their sentiment regarding all the winning right now. It must be a failure of those people across the political spectrum just failing to understand.

You are actually stupid aren't you? I used to think you were just principled. You are actually just a moron who can't face the truth with data right in front of your face. Your anecdotal conversation is indicative of nothing but sentiment of people who may as well be perpetuating that the earth is flat.

I think the disconnect is that the people who think this is a bad economy are responding to the fact that the economy is rigged against them.

The fact you don't see why "shits expensive" and your merry band of whoever the fuck also don't understand simple concepts is telling. Go on and tell us how smart you are. We have our popcorn ready.  Facts are facts bud. Ignore them at your own risk.

It's important to remember how totally disconnected from reality the CR has been for years.

Is it beyond the realm to conclude that "reality" has been quite disconnected from reality for quite some time?

People that love to pretend covid didn't happen are actually out if their minds. We are still dealing with post covid supply chain normalization and inflation due to you know, the entire earth having to shut down and print more money than has ever existed ever in a short amount of time to keep the global economy going.

Inflation had to happen, the only other option was catastrophic collapse.

The US has had lower inflation than legitimely every other modernized country on the planet. You know, earth, the one that humans live on.

Just tell us about the new daily spending you have and the flat wages you also don’t have.

Oh you

Don’t drive him off before he gives the salient economic data points that his landscaping business owner friend outlined on why the policies of Biden have created a terrible economy. Because he said he broke it down in how politics was ruining his buying power and cost of living.

Me: Oh shit!  Why is the Biden thread marked HOT!?!?!

Oh.  Ana'd.

If things are so bad, then why has “stubborn” consumer spending managed to drive economic growth 3% this quarter?

There is certainly something to this wrt to the multiplier effect. But it's not limited to those with multipliers.

All I said initially was that "There is not a single person I talk to in real life that thinks the current climate is winning. YMMV."

This triggers some posters here. But I cannot be held responsible for that. Some of them have a long history of being triggered when confronted with common sense observations.

Sooo, what's your point? Some people can't be convinced of a favorable economy no matter what the metrics are with a (D) in the White House. Cool. Who cares?

My wife has a coffee mug that says "Science doesn't give a fuck what you believe". Seems appropriate here.

Sure, that’s also completely dependent on where you live and who you choose to be around. The people I’m around in real life are better off financially than probably anytime in our adult lives.

Now y'all believe in science again. What a world.

I mean, it sincerely did not start out that way, but the responses of others here can be classified as nothing other than trolling. No mirrors in the CR.
