Our desert landscape hates me right now. Yuccas be like wtf you told us there would be no rain?

Desert plants like to flood. With good rain they are going to bloom like mad. I want seed pods!

A tree in the green belt behind my son’s house fell into his backyard, crushing his fence and garden.
A few doors down another tree fell, blocking the street….

Then light it on fire in place. Problem solved.

1/2” rain and as a special bonus, it knocked out the last remaining oak pollen remnants lingering in the trees.

Well, now you did it.

I got about an inch of rain this morning when the first line went through. Then got another 2 inches in the past two hours in the 78628.

Pouring in round rock. Trying to leave lunch but guess I’ll have to order another  beer.

It's the only way to be safe. Turn around, don't drown.

Hello, soon to be neighbor. Moving to the 78628 in a few weeks.

"THAT THING IS GIAGANTIC!" Check out this scary video of a tornado warned storm as it rolled through Madisonville, TX earlier this evening. #TXwx

We got what had to be around 3+ inches at our house (rain gauge broke the other day, so that's an estimate).  Was steady and we got some good standing water and runoff - the kind of stuff that would have been great for the lakes.  Seriously, we're missing the target by just 40-50 miles, every damned time.  LT went up only 500 a.f. yesterday.  That's nothing.  Every drunk pissing off their boat over the weekend would make it go up that much.  It's frustrating as hell to watch.

We had the whole family in the closet last night when that system that generated the Madisonville tornado above was heading right at us. It ended up skirting to the north of us but we still had 3.3 in the rain gauge this morning.

wind or lightning?

I sat and watched the storm roll in from our front porch in SW Austin.  There were some legit strong bursts of wind.

#639

The back yard tree was probably from water erosion in the little creek, plus wind.

The tree on the street was wind, apparently, plus on the slope right next to the curb.

You're not far from us -- LCRA's Bull Creek gauge says 0.83 inches.

Just saw 95 on the forecast for 5/8. What the ever living fuck. Time to fire up the Blastfurnace 2024 thread.

Odd.  We definitely got more than that, busted rain gauge or no, the empty bird baths were overflowing, and that doesn't happen till we get over 2 inches.

At least some chance of rain in the forecast every day for the next 2 weeks.  The Austin Forcefield is going to be doing some work.

UPDATE - Today's severe storm threat has been upgraded again for all of Central Texas. Level 2/5 risk for all of us, 3/5 risk now in the western Hill Country. Hail & damaging winds are still the main threats, but an isolated tornado is possible #atxwx #txwx
Closer look at the rare level 3/4 flood threat issued for Central/East Texas. In addition to the severe weather threat, the atmosphere will be LOADED with moisture. Extreme rainfall rates + training storms could quickly result in flash flooding #atxwx #txwx

You know you're from Central Texas when you actually HOPE it floods (in the right places).

Yeah, but that map shows the highest ("moderate") risk barely extending into Llano and Blanco counties.  Could help Lake Travis, I suppose, if they actually get the heavy rain.  I think the other Highland Lake watersheds are less likely to be soaked.

Probably just train right over Shoal Creek Saloon for a few hours. Its about that time I guess.
