Been pouring on and off for the past 2 hours at Horseshoe Bay and more is coming. This water has to go somewhere.

The rivers are starting to run!

I just passed 3 inches of rain for the day.

Hallelujah, holy shit.

It's been "raining" in 78749 for 5 hours and my pool level has dropped at least 1".

Damn nice rain south of austin that was left out yesterday. None for @NorthLoop looks like.

I'm about half an inch for the week.

Currently 65 degrees and a Chamber of Commerce Day in Hardin Co.  Big rain chances for T,W,Th this week.  I'm good with it.

All you fuckers should pay me to look after your dogs. Whenever I get more than three extra here, it's guaranteed to rain.

praises go up and blessings come down, looks like about .7 inches at my place near I35/Braker

Yeah that was a weird, very localized storm.  The vast majority of Greater Austin got nothing, but Lanier High School seems to have taken the length at 2.24".

Similar situation up here yesterday.  Places around Lorena got like 4.5" in an hour along with hail and crazy winds.   Buddy of mine's place was absolutely wrecked in about 40 minutes yesterday afternoon.  Trees down, water coming into their house...crazy shit.

Holy shit, that's why Shoal Creek was flowing so heavily below 45th Street.

Yup.  I had no idea it was even raining anywhere in Austin, being up here in NW Travis, until AUS-97Horn mentioned it yesterday.  It was just sort of cloudy here.

Yep, guess so. weather forecasters will continue to tease us with 40% chances about 9-10 days out.

According to one of the mayoral candidates in Hays County, its cool, we have plenty of water.

Something wet falling from the sky at my office.

Georgia tears

About .2” in the rain gauge. Wouldn’t normally count that as anything, but today was our watering day so it’s a nice little bonus!

Guess we’re done for this year?

Sadly, it's possible.

Hold on to your asses.

San Marcos River running at just over 50%. This is not good right? I mean we all know how important it is for washing downstream Bobcat piss and dog shit, it might be something we should worry about. Meanwhile all over the I35 corridor there is more and more development. And not all of it very smart. Also, incumbent Mayor is running for office. She said recently we have plenty of water, enough to sell.

TL:DR we need rain bad. Did not see a thread in DT for climate, so dropping it here.

Quote

The river’s average flow is around 150 cubic feet per second. The San Marcos River Foundation shared a post-Monday saying the flow has dropped to around 80 cfs. Cubic feet per second is the unit of measurement used to describe the volume of water passing a point in a river in one second, according to USGS

“We’re at a concerning level,” said Virginia Parker, the Executive Director of the San Marcos River Foundation.

“The San Marcos River is fed by the Edwards Aquifer, which is a very large aquifer that provides drinking water to over 2 million people in Central Texas,” Parker continued. “There’s a lot of crunchy grass out there, which means our aquifer is not getting recharged in the way it needs – not only for drinking water but also for rivers and streams in Central Texas.”

Good old 10 day with that tease. If it does not happen going to kick a Georgia fan.

Yeah isn’t October the wettest month on average, or close to it? Don’t worry, the correction will come in like January.

The good news is that lawns in Tarrytown and Westlake look beautifully green so we're good

Will it ever rain in central Texas again? Our well ran dry this morning. Not good.

Yeah, it will. Flash floods will tell you when.

I want to believe.....

My guess is that I'll end up with about 1.5 inches total out of all of this max.

My guess is less than 0.1" at my house from all of this.  I haven't had measurable rain at my house in something like 11 weeks now.

Yeah who am I kidding. I'll get half an inch and like it.

My guess is green gets bountiful rain, yellow gets enough to offer hope without reviving any of the dead yards of Austin (exception: Westlake and Tarrytown) and red... you know.

thats a penis GIF

My guess is that it will only rain, and that it will pour hard when it does, when I’ve got my kids out trick or treating. As soon as we get home it’ll stop.
